Hey all, my name is Frank. I bought a 98 eclipse a couple years ago. The motor seized up, can't even turn the crank manually with breaker bar. I got screwed by insurance company and I still owe a small loan on it. Kinda upside down on it. Trying to get some suggestions on what to do with the car. I bought it from original owner and it was garage kept. No rust or fading, car is in great shape other than the motor.

Should I do a rebuild kit for it? Have fun and get a turbo motor? any parts I can sell that are worth anything?

Thanks guys!

The rebuild kits are decently cheap for the 420a and the engine can be rebuilt in a short amount of time. I would first pull the motor out and asses the damages. If it looks to be in good condition look into a machine shop to maybe hone/bore out the cylinder walls.
Depending on the money you want to spend you could also go with a turbo build or a stroker build if you're looking to get more power.
If you really want to go crazy and drop a lot of money into it i think the newer evo engines (the backwards 4g63 or the 4b11) cant remember what one bolts up with some fab work.

Pull the timing cover and have a look- there's a good chance the timing belt broke unless the car was intentionally run without oil. 420A's aren't known for chronic oiling issues....at least not in stock form.
