Yes it can be done its up to you i put mine in without i think its easier then i put the trans on for me much easier, get buddy to help put the trans on. Ive done it too many times like this, no abs next car awd.

Mine was manual like i said ive done it lots of times, i like that way, then i can check everything one more time around before she goes in. Checking things in the past i missed because its tight in there.

Installing them as a unit is the easiest way of doing it. Slide it under the car on jacks and lower the car on to the unit and line up your mounts and bolt it in.

I always drop it in as one piece from above. It takes a bit to get it to go in but once you get the angle right it slides right in no problem. I usually angle the tranny down and have it slide in the corner right behind the pass headlight and then swing it down and right below the mount and then the motor drops right in lined up for the mount there. Then use a jack to line up the rear mount and then put the sub frame on the mount and then bolt it in. That is what I have found to be the easiest way of doing it. Never tried from underneath since I am too afraid to jack up the car that high since I had one fall off a jack when I was under it :barf:
