I'm kinda stuck here and I need a little assistance from you guys. I have been doing a lot of work recently taking my motor out, tranny, abs removal and a lot more. I'm trying to get my motor back in but im starting to realize that many of my bolts are now mixed together or missing over time and between the dog messing around my car. Is there anywhere online or a forum that gives bolt specification for all or most parts of the motor. Is their any advice you, who have had this happen before, could give me. I'm in a major time crunch now so buying tons of mixed bolts online is not going to help me. If I post bolts that im missing could some of you guys be able to know what they are because if so im going to be back and forth here for the next 12 hours, yea an all nighter to get it done. When everything is done I've taken lots of pictures of all the things i've been doing and ill start another thread and show you guys my first ever major job like this, im proud of myself so I have to show off a little! :) Thanks guys

Whenever I need small bolts, or misc. parts, I call the dealer. Ask them to fax you over a complete diagram of your motor. The diagram will include all nuts, bolts, etc..., along with part numbers. Call them back, and give them part numbers for everything you need.

I am using both haynes and chiltons and your right it helps. My lack of planning unfortunately prohibits me from going to the dealer today or tomorrow since today is sunday and tomorrow is a holiday but does anyone know maybe where that diagram would be online. I would assume its on there since people seem to store information on everything including their grandmother. I am going to look I'll see what I can pull up.

+1^^^ Get a factory service manual on CD that comes with CAPS to look up part numbers. As much as everybody hates dealerships, I've found Norco Mitsubishi (west coast) to be unbelievably helpful in getting me all sorts of parts, from big parts down to seals, o-rings, and crush washers. They're also cheaper than what the aftermarket places charge b/c of mark up.

A note on bolts: DEFINITELY get essential bolts from the dealership rather than a hardware store. Even with the same diameter and thread pitch they can still be the wrong grade. Also, I've noticed the threads on a lot of the Mitsu bolts have rolled edges. I screwed up the threads on my transmission for a transfer case bolt with a bolt from Lowes. I torqued it to spec and it stripped the threads. Had to helicoil and get a Mitsu bolt. Also, when you get a proper diameter/thread pitch bolt from a hardware store, it may have a different sized head which will throw your torque spec all out of whack.

Next time you do a big project, put all hardware in zip lock bags and label them. When you can, thread the bolts into the chassis without the component that you pulled so you know where they came from. I.E. when you take out your intercooler, thread the intercooler bolts back into the chassis so when you come back later you know where they go.

I put ALL bolts back where I take them from. For example, if I take the the intake manifold off, I thread the bolts (and 2 nuts) back to where they came from out of the head. I'm so anal, that I even makes sure every single bolt goes back in the same hole I get them from. If I am doing something like sending the head out then I tape the bolts back in the holes on the intake manifold. It I can't do that then I do the card board method.
