Well, Ive finished with the painting of the engine bay. It looks amazing:hellyeah:

Now its time for the motor. Sent the motor in for machine work. Buying pistons to send in to them and head studs.

Im actually going to be trying out the topline rebuild kit. Ive heard mixed reviews about it and honestly i want to help everyone decide on them =)

But anyway. i want to be around 300-340HP.
Im upgrading turbos to the EVO316G. And a front mount. and more but what can get me this while i have the engine out?

just wondering =) thanks guys:hmm:

im so deep into this car. it really doesnt matter at this point.
But i will be going into a small fortune this coming feb.
but that is for my next build. a GSX.

I was gonna put a bigger fuel pump.
bigger injectors
16gturbo
front mount
Boost Controller (how much psi should i be running after break in?)
a logger

Also what size cams should i put in? along with what else do i need to put bigger cams in?

And can you reuse rods?

You can reuse rods if they meet spec.

Give them to the machine shop for measurement.

My biggest recommendation would be DSMLink. Hardware is only as good as the computer managing it.

As far as cams, go with 264/272 if you want more torque and a little less top end, or a good set of 272's if you're trying to make power higher in the RPM range.

A JMF Race intake manifold would help too.

You won't know how much boost to run until you're tuning, hopefully on a dyno.

sounds good =)
i was reading up on the 264/272 combo.
kinda like it =)

but dsmlink is up there in my to buy list. LOL
Just need to get the money
i just want a fast daily driver. and like i said 300-340ish hp

My gsx will be the build track car :sneaky:

Im currently using the topline gasket kit on my rebuilt tsi its working great so far..just dont use that head gasket that comes with the kit..i would go with a 190 or 255 walbro fuel pump..You should get an adjustable fuel pressure regulater and a new fuel filter..For the cams I would get 264/272 or 272/272 and with putting new cams in it you might as well put new valvesprings and retainers in it..i wouldnt re use the stock rods go with an engine kit and just reuse your stock crank..After the motor break in you should run the lowest boost setting you can just for a few pulls to make sure everything is running smooth while youre boosting..and Good luck and have fun with your build :rocks:

Can you read??? why the hell would you tell him to waste $600 on a JMF race intake manifold when he JUST SAID he was ONLY shooting for 300-340hp??? :nono: the stock intake manifold will do just fine. The cams are like $350 each right? so why waste the money on 264 when you can get the 272 for the same exact price?? well its your car so spend your hard earned money on whatever you want.

We are building a stage 2 head and will post costs and components used during the build, as well as a dyno pull to see how we did ;)

Better yet get some evo8/9 rods/pistons, while your at it get a Balance shaft elimination kit and plug up your oil squirters(Magnus Motorsports - Crankwalk Tech) and if the head is gonna get milled do this http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/newbie-forum/341028-4g63t-head-oil-port-mod.html. If you truthfully want to have an actual 400whp dyno sheet, then look into a bigger turbo, that 16g might be able to support 400whp, but maybe with cams and other misc. items, it would be smarter to start off with HX35/50trim/20g/etc, you know a turbo that can support that number without other "bolt-ons"

264/272 is a 264 intake cam and a 272 exhaust cam, which produces more midrange torque than 272s and works great on the street.

Doesn't sound like a waste of money, does it?

I mentioned a JMF manifold because it's an easy 20whp on a 16g. Is it necessary? No, but it definitely won't hurt the setup.

Balance shaft kit would be good, i completely forgot about that.

Yes it does sounds like a waste IMO. The $500-$600 could be spent alot better.

OP asked for a cam recommendation. I gave him one.

He can probably hit 340hp with a 16g on a stock longblock/intake, so this whole thread makes little sense.
