momo steering wheel hub install, ?stumped?

I've have had my car for 2 years now and have decided to sell it but the horn has never worked because I couldn't figure out how to wire it up.

I have a momo steering wheel and hub that came with the car but horn didnt work. well I did research and found this tech article http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/articles-exterior-interior/373149-how-get-your-horn-working-aftermarket-steering-wheel-using-clamp.html?nojs=1#links that I have tried to follow. Well make a long story short as soon as I touch the horn wire to the back of the hub the horn blows.

So I'm assume that the entire hub is grounded which I don't think is suppose to happen (correct me if I'm wrong). I can't find any write ups on this particular hub any where on the web. I know the hubs part number is 6101.

So any help would be appreciated.

I can only help u with what already know. The wire on the collum that goes to the stearing wheel is indeed a ground wire.when u prees the horn button it completes the circuit to ground.

Im thinking the main wire goes to the horn button. Then another wire leaves the button to ground or the button is already grounded. Buy pressing the button u complete the circuit.

after looking more at it, it seems to me that there should be some sort of ring on the back side of the hub that keeps the horn wire from actually touching/grounding to the hub and then i would connect that to the horn button which is grounded when pressed .

I've been trying to find a picture on the back of a momo hub to see if there is in fact a ring but i can't find a pic of the back side.

Well if the horn wire to the hub works that pretty much leaves your horn wire to hub connection as the culprit right? Do you know for sure the momo horn button works with a conductivity test? That would be my first thought that the button isn't connecting the circuit.

yeah, I've had it wired before. but it was with a long wire wrapped around the column. take a guess how that worked out.

the button works, my problem seems to be that my hub is grounded and if i wire it the way the tech article post it'll be on all the time. thats why i think there is suppose to be some sort of ring back there that keeps the horn wire from touching the hub directly but i can't find a pic of the back side of the hub.

If someone who has this hub could give me conformation I'll know that the problem isn't me wiring it wrong.

Do you still have the spring and plastic sleeve that goes around the shaft? I worked on a car once with an aftermarket wheel installed and that was missing. It was impossibly to get the horn working properly without it. Also the hub is going to be grounded out, it is bolted to the shaft which has continuity to ground.

No there is no sleeve that goes over shaft. That would explain how these wiring how to's have done it with out grounding out.

I have even went to the momo web site and didn't see anything like that.

well I did get it fixed. I never figured out if there was supposed to be a ring or anything back there so I made my own hub ring and have it working now.

I'll try and take some pics later. I have to take the wheel off again anyway, I put it on wrong by a few teeth. Lol.

Thanks I have a momo wheel as well and I would like to make it work befor I go out and by another wheel that it's Easyer or the evo wheel.
