I've lived in CA for almost my entire life, and I have NEVER felt humidity like I did when I went to AZ for a pavilions meet staying with DR1665....

CA is hot, but we get a cold breeze, not like AZ where its hot, humid, then you get a breeze and realize it feels like someone turned on a heater at full blast and pointed it in your direction...

Depends on the weather. Last night we had a storm and it was fairly humid, however 95% of the time it is very dry. That's why people always make the lame joke, "sure it is 115, but it is a dry heat."

All right then, count me in so far and dont forget to stop for me in Cali :D . Also how is the weather over there in Cypress, Ca? Should I expect 100 degress or a little cooler? And how many days off should I ask for at work? I was thinking fri, sat, and sunday dont know if that will cut it tho.

Just wanted to make you aware, but we are leaving Friday night. We may not make it to Palm Spring until about 10 or so.

My Ex Gf from almost 15 years ago manages a motel. I might be able to get people a decent rate there if I know ahead of time. Its in Redlands off the 10 freeway and the alabama exit. I Think they run around $60 a night but I might be able to shave some off if I let her know ahead of time.

Yes...

Thats where I met Nate for last years MOD. Watched that chick back into that other car full force. Daaaayuuumn.

I think I drove off that same curb too, that one at the gas station in CA? Mike and his impression of an H2 was leading the way, right off a curb. 2G abuse....:sneaky:

HAHA. Oh man I remember that, but no, that wasn't the one. .

Mike 4x4-ing was just special. I think I sat back in the car and just watched you go off it.

My curb was a while after we had split off for the night at a gas station. He was tired, and apparently so was my car; b/c it layed down on the curb.

How far is that from MOD? Last year we stayed litteraly around the corner and that made it nice.

Pretty sure that's going to be about an hour away, Mike.

And what's all this talk about six hours to get there? Last year, the az2gnt crew made it to Anaheim in about five and that included being split up and lost! Must be the AWD guys needing to stop for gas all the time. :shrug If I take the Talon, I'll fill up at the corner by my house, then cruise with you guys at a buck ten all the way there and still have more than a quarter of a tank left. Then again, I might just take the beat up, burninated Galant and feel the AWD gas mileage pain too. :D

So the plan is to leave the Friday night before MOD, correct? Maybe meet up with some inland emprire guys around Palm Springs, then? This is in July, right? :sneaky:

If you want to meet with IE guys, it would be better closer to the IE. Palmsprings is about 45-60 minutes east of me and I am considered the east end of the IE. We would be better off meeting somewhere in San Bernardino which is a bit more localized for everyone and then heading out down the 215/91 through riverside to wherever it is we go.

Dont know if I will be going now. Either the clutch is slipping, the front diff went out or I broke an axle.. will have more info later today hopefully if I can get my friend here with a 22 wrench and my spare axle.

I might be going. I'll probably have nate(ghettosmurf) in the car with me cause he doesnt like driving his car anywhere ROFL

yea i do remember it....i just pretend i don't that way i don't feel as bad. But yea, that gas station was full of Ganstas when we pulled over to survey the damage. Wish i was packin my NINE foos.

Well, I've been giving MOD a lot of thought and it looks like I'm going to have to pass this year. My Shootout plans are on thin ice and the temperature is rising. On top of that, I've got trips to SLC and Denver planned for September and October and a possible European excursion for the spring. If only someone would buy this damn shell I've got in the garage...

We are probably only going to bring 1 car. The only way my car is going to get down there is on a flatbed, because it is still broke. Maybe Mario wants to share a flat bed, we could ride together in the flatbed with the truck driver smiling/winking at us...but that is entirely up to Mario.

On a serious note, if we do go, I would rather head out later in the afternoon/evening, say 7-8. I'm sure her car will make it there fine, but it beind a DSM, who knows when it will over heat/have problems. Remember last year with my car...had to drive at night and up front just to keep the car from overheating.

it wasn't the driving there that was a pain in my ass.....it was the one back....you know, the one where i drove for 14hours straight.

Note to you people driving to MOD........DO NOT STOP IN BLITHE!!!!! unless you want to spend the night there, because i ain't delivering parts this time.

Ok. I just checked out the MOD06 website and stumbled upon what may just be a curse of some sort...

Here we see Dan's GSX, as photographed by the Mitsu crew at MOD05.

Last winter, this GSX got loose on a Phoenix highway interchange and was totalled out with extreme prejudice. Fortunately, most of the performance mods found their way into another 2GB GSX, dubbed "The Phoenix" as it rose from the ashes of the original, but a piece of many an az2gnter died the day news of this incident was received.

Upon closer examination of the MOD05 gallery on this site, we see this car.

Now, I could be wrong, but this car bears a striking resemblance to one clean, white 2GB GSX which was stolen and stripped within the last few months, the painful memory still lingering in many Arizona DSMers' minds.

What you don't see is this car, also shot at MOD05 by the Mitsu crew.

Another Arizona DSMer who had his car shot at MOD05 who, the following winter experienced catastrophic engine failure at the hands of a blown-up piston. This car still sits on jack stands in a north Phoenix garage awaiting a freshly-built 2.4L as time permits.

Just thought I would mention this is looking like some sort of curse. Perhaps the voodoo witch doctor from the Evo cartoon last year is trying to gloat...?

all these cars are so purty with clean paint jobs and rims. Im kind of embarrassed to take my gst with primered black bumpers/skirts and a not so new paint job with stock rims :coy: .
