So, prancing around the junkyard I see in a lot of mid to late 90's Mitsubishi's that they all share what looks like the same MAF

What would happen if I tried using a MAF out of a 7th Gen 4g64 Galant or N\T 3000GT as appose to the 2G Turbo MAF on say my 1G Turbo?? They look basically the same and I think have the same amount of pins as well..

Feed back please...

yep you can take honey comb out of your stock one but a lot of people would urge you not to since your maf wont be able to read as well just spend the money like me to do it right with ither a 2 g or evo as stated above

Ok, I was just wondering because there are so many in junkyards. Thanks guys

While they look the same what they flow isn't.

The 2G MAF is a 609, the 3G version you want is a 482 and the EVO MAF a 399.

All will require some sort of correction to use either via a SAFC, EPROM Chip or DSMLink to use.

Are the numbers the amount of air the maf can see?

idk about the 3G or the EVo Maf but I've seen quite a few people run 2G MAF with out any sort of tuner. just up'd the injectors.

I would be getting a Wideband at least if and when I do 2G MAF

Steve, could you please elaborate more on what you said about running a 2g MAF and 550's. That is the setup that i bought my car with. That plus a re-wired walborado, and no FPR.

I run a standalone now, but the car has been running kind of crappy and i think i might have some engine damage. (It did have lots of air leaks, so that could've had something to do with that also)

There are plenty of posts on the site explaining the issue. Simply put the difference between a 1G and 2G MAF isn't a constant value and there is more to injectors than just the difference in rated flow.

Let not even think about starting yet another discussion on fuel pressure overrun.

I think Fuel Pressure over run has been suggest as much as Boost leak on this site so I would search that down man!

Sorry to bring an old thread up, i am running a maf off a 96-98 galant, it has the 609 on it, is this correct ?
I ask cause my car is having a rich issue and wonder if maybe i had the wrong maf in it.

So then i have the right maf..
But about the flow part, i compared the maf i took off the galant and a 2g one and they both have the exact same honeycombs and all, how will it flow less ?

I have nothing to contribute to this thread. But I wanted to say, OP, do you have an E30 or are you just a fan? I am a fellow E30 and dsm owner!
