Ok, so some of you might have read my thread about getting my 95 GST for $625, well today I went to do some work on it and came across some problems.

The car was missing a fuel rail and injectors so I got a hold of both of them along with some new insulators and O-rings and installed them today. Now the guy said this was all it needed to run including new plugs and wires. I first installed the injectors and fuel rail.

I then changed the oil and filter with Mobil 10-30W oil and filter. I noticed that there was only about 2-3 quarts of oil that drained out probably because the oil pan was leaking from the gasket area.

Well, he said it needed plugs and wires but the car came with both so I just used the wires but replaced the plugs. The battery was also dead even though it looked brand new but this might be from the car sitting for 6 months.

Now I was in the process of installing the stock UICP and noticed a few things "looking out of place" and "missing". Here are pics I dont know what they are.

Looks like a missing sensor:

This hose was unhooked, couldn't trace where it was supposed to be connected:

This sensor right next to the brake fluid reservoir was unplugged and I didn't see anywhere to plug it back in to:

And last but not least I decided to look at the timing belt and this is what I saw: :notgood:

Now I tried starting the car but it would crank but wouldn't turn over. It sounded like it wanted to start though but I kept thinking that with missing parts and bad timing it wouldn't. I NEED SOME HELP from you guys, this is my first turbo car and some of the parts I'm not familiar with. I mean I picked it up for cheap so some of these things are not bothering me (as of yet).

Here are a few pics of the car:

Well guys I got the car to run. Replaced the IAC and changed all the plugs and got new wires. The car runs but runs rough as you can tell by the vid. And that annoying squealing sound as you guys already know are the old belts. Those will be changed and tensioned properly. I did move it about 15 feet forward and back and it seems it has no power. I'm thinking big boost leaks!

All suggestions are welcome from watching the vid. I need to know if you guys hear anything else that is wrong.

PS. I know the timing is off by 2 teeth so that might explain the horrible idle and the fact that it hasn't ran in 7 months. The CEL is on also.

When you checked the timing, was the Crank Pulley at TDC? Just making sure before you jump the gun on the whole "Its off my two teeth".

Also, you can delete all the emissions hoses, but you need the actual sensors on the firewall to be present and plugged in to not have a CEL.

Congrats getting it running!

From the video, it looked like you had no or very low oil pressure. My oil pressure is usually maybe 1/8 of the way at idle and is horizontal if you hold it around 3k rpm.

Idle looked a bit high, too (1100rpm). May have been just the warmup. Should idle at around 750rpm when warm.

Do a compression test yet?

Boost leak test is a good idea, too.

Make sure your MAF is plugged in, and if you can borrow a logger check to see if your 02 has voltage. Other than that, good job on getting it running.

Well I didn't have the ability to check the timing at the Crank pulley. I just checked it from the cam gear notches and in the pic above it shows that's it off. I'll do that next time I look at the car. A timing job is in the future plans though including a new water pump.

Actually the idle was higher than 1100 rpms. It was at about 1500 rpms but just not in the video. The IAC was held in by only one bolt that I borrowed from a sensor on top of the IM. Also, I didn't have the O-ring for it so I'll see about getting those from Satan tomorrow.

So a boost leak test and compression test is next on my list.
