Well let me start by saying I just got the car back yesterday. The mechanic upgraded my lash adjusters, water pump and removed 2 broken exhaust stud in head. The ticking is gone, but now I have bad idle. If I hold the pedal at lets say 2000 rpm it misses, just like it does at idle. I attached a picture of the timing sprockets. To me it looks off, but I am not an expert.

Read this, this should help you out. http://www.vfaq.com/mods/timingbelt-2G.html

You need to turn the engine to the clockwise direction by turning the crankshaft sprocket. It could take up to six turns before it lines up.

To get to the crankshaft sprocket you might have to take your driver side tire and wheel well over off. You should see if once everything is out of the way.

The crank bolt (if it's the same as a 1G) has a 1/2" drive in the middle and a 22mm on the outside. Turn it with a ratchet clockwise and watch the timing mark go to TDC. One TDC setting the cam gears will be 180 degrees out, the other one, they should be perfectly aligned. If you put the crankshaft to both TDCs and the cam gears never get perfectly aligned you need to bring it back to the shop.

Due to the work done to your car, it's likely to be the engine timing. However, something else to consider would be the cam angle sensor, since the camshafts were removed. That can be reinstalled 180 degrees out and make your car run poorly.

Good luck.

Well i put it on tdc and the timing lines on the camshaft sprockets match up perfectly. Where else do i need to check to make sure timing is right? Also i pulled out the spark plugs and they had what looked like baked on oil and a little liquid oil on them.

Oil pump sprocket if you have balance shafts still.

Well i bought a cheap set of plug just to see, and the problem is still there :-( I also did a boost leak test, and its leaking from my throttle body. I know one of the exact places its leaking, and that is the bliss screw. But there is still another leak on the throttle body. Whould this cause me to have a missing feeling while idling? The RPMs are perfect it just sounds and feels like it misses, but not all the time.
