1999 Eclipse GS. Had my mechanic put it a brand new transmission and clutch. Two weeks later I get an engine code. Run the codes and discover I have 6 engine codes, 2 for random misfires and 1 code for each cylinder.

Bought this car out of a junkyard, we have no idea why the original owner never came back for his car after a collision center fixed it. Sat for almost three years with a busted out window before the shop sent it to the yard. Discovered that the engine was completely rebuilt and even found some paperwork verifying it. Also discovered that the transmission was completely shot and maybe that is why the owner was done with it. After I had my mechanic throw in my transmission, I took her home and drained all the oil, ran some cheap oil for a bit, then drained and put in some synthetic oil. Ran some fuel stabilizer in it until all the old fuel was gone and put in fresh fuel with some cleaner to make sure all the sediment left the system when the codes first showed up on me. Cleared the codes after putting in the fresh fuel and changing out the PCV line and valve. After 36 miles, the codes came back with a vengeance and added one extra one on me. Pulled the plugs and checked inside the head and saw no immediate concerns. Installed some iridium plugs and got some Accel wires to replace the old corroded wires. The car runs smoother now, but I am still getting a rough idle. The ignition coil is MSD and looks fairly new-ish. Any ideas?

Have you inspected the ECU to know it doesn't have any leaky caps? My saturn had a random misfire condition and I had to change the plugs, wires, ignition module and coils and now it is gone....but its not a DSM. Just giving you somethings to check over especially since it was in a boneyard for a while, never know what kinda critters where chewing on things while it sat.

That's a good call, def check your ecu. I didn't see fuel filter on the list, and was there actual sediment in the tank? Because the filter is probably clogged, also the screen on the inlet of the fuel injectors can become clogged with varnish or deposits from ethanol. It's killing carb boat motors from the lines br eaking down. Check grounds, check the power transistor. Also have your mechanic hook up a scan tool and watch maf readings while making a rpm sweep. Maybe it's your isc acting up. That could be another sign it is your ecu.

Pull plugs, post pictures. Pull ecu, post pictures. Make sure the coil plug to the driver side of block is actually plugged in and secure.

Pulled the plugs and replaced them already. Old ones had very little deposits on them that were light gray. They were gaped incorrectly and sporadically so I replaced them with better ones and checked my gap three times. The wires were corroded and cheap so I went out and got some ACCEL wires with a bigger gauge. The car runs better and the turbo engages better, but the idle is still rough and inconsistent. The MSD Coil is secure and does not wobble, the connection is tight and fairly clean looking too.

I meant...the new plugs. Not the old plugs. Anytime a misfire is read, it's basic insurance to pull a plug just to see how the car is running.

The connection to the side of the block or the connection to the coil? Have you checked both?

As far as the idle, have you checked TB for leaks? IAC working properly? Biss screw leaking?

Make sure the spark plugs are giving good spark. Go back and check you timing and make sure everything is in time. go back over your vacuum hoses and make sure they are all good. also, clean your maf sensor.

Sorry for not updating right away, had a few things come up. Anyways, took apart the throttle body and discovered a huge amount of old build up. Cleaned the throttle body and my MAF sensor really good, my red rag ended up being black by the time I was finished. Had my brother in law come by with his computer, hook it up to my Eclipse. Everything read out perfect, o2 sensors were reading correctly and no pending codes. Put 66 miles on the Eclipse and the check engine light is back on.

Injectors.man ohm those lil guys with a volt meter since your nt they should be around 15ohms (+/- )2ohms anything more there toast ,had this issue ran fine under load but not idle , is it a constant misfire? Like no matter if your moveing 0r not? Could even be a ecu issue or failing one atleast. Btw I never.got.a.cel till it.got really bad. Also try.continuity if it beeps.there.closed if.you get no sound.then its.stuck open

What do you mean by turbo engages better? Is this a 1999 gs or not?

try clearing all the codes and then drive the car to see which code you get first cause one cylinder misfire can create a multiple misfire . once you see what the code is concentrate on that .

see if you have a good spark to your plugs . if you have an extra plug you can hook it up to one of the ignition wires. while the plug is touching a good ground check the spark while the engine is running . you should have a good bright spark . you can also go to the auto parts store and get one of those spark plug holders with an alligator clip to hold the plug to ground .

Coil is only a month old and just a ohm check on the injector all of them have 15 ohms I'm starting to thing I have a vacuum leak somewhere but Idk

Ok guys I'm getting really frustrated I just replaced the upstream o2 sensor and good news is the cel light isn't flashing anymore but still the same codes
P0300
P0301
P0302
P0303
P0304
P0300

Part replaced
Coil
Wires
Plugs
Cam sensor
Crank sensor
Tps sensor
Upstream o2
Maf sensor
Check compression 175 in all cylinders
Checked injector 15 ohms in all injector timing is right on what else should I check

vacuum leaks only give you a rough idle when you accelerate the car will run fine but if you have an ignition problem the car will continue to misfire on acceleration. if you have a vacuum leak try spraying some carb cleaner around the intake to see if the idle smooths out .

Thanks for the reply gonna check vacuum leak and fuel pressure tomorrow the car is running lean when I check compression I noticed white carbon build up and when I smogged the car it had high hc those are the only 2 things left I can think of left to check

I have a 99 eclipse just misfires cylinder 1. Have new plugs wires filters just about everything. Unplugged wire from coil and still got good sparks coming out... what else can I do I'm pretty decent work on and figuring out car problems but this one has me stumped. Can you please help?

You can try checking, coil connection, fuel pressure, timing, i read if your running a 1g cas can get random misfires also, make sure the wires are pushed into the coil also and not just the boots
