Mini air filters and gas filters used on vacum hoses i have questions

iv seen people but mini filters and gas filters between hoses in there car in random areas

so i want to know what these things do and if any one has any in there car

please pic are very much appreciated

I had one that runs off the left side of your valve cover back to the stock intake. This helps to prevent oil being returned to your intake and going through your turbo. Pretty easy to do. Get a $2 fuel filter from wal-mart and place it on the vacuum line. Once it gets dirty, change it like an air filter.

have you seen gas filter in other places besides the one that goes off the valve cover?

Maybe he's talking about a small air filter on top of a catch can too?
