So i have changed the fluid in my trans 4 times now and each time it ends up milky in only a short time. i've just been using the reccomended stuff nothing fancy, Valvoline, coastal, castrol, castrol(*free* at work). the first and second times it was loaded with brass (joy) and always milky. foaming? water? i guess it could be left over but i doubt it. it doesn't leak anywhere so I'd assume nothing is getting in either. is it just foaming? doesn't look like it. Anybody else have this problem? also my t case was watery the first time, black the second, and now clean. rear diff normal.

EDIT: car is a five speed not an auto, sorry

sounds to me like u got a tranny cooler leaking into the tranny but thats just me. the only thing that causes fuilds to milk up is other fluids in the oil.

I agree. The coolers will ocasionally leak water into the transmission lines. If the rear differential and transfer case are ok, it's almost a sure bet.

Good Luck

Sorry, i should have specified, five speed not auto. thats why I'm so confused by this. seen it many times but not in a manual, and when i do it's usually a missing/broke breather or vent tube. do talons just like to foam up the oil and I'm mistaking this for water?

Just to make sure, you aren't adding Lucas (or something similar) to the tranny oil, are you?

If you have the facilities to drop your tranny and look, check your synchros. If they're over-worn, it's possible that they could be aerating it. (Only guessing this due to the brass particles mentioned)

It's a possibility that you did get some other liquid in there and your not getting it all out when you just drain the fuild and refill it. Try getting the trans flushed and see if it returns on the next change.

i don't know about the synchros, shifts ok. only grinds when i go hard to second and do a crappy job with the clutch. think I'll try and flush it somehow, it is a big lumpy tranny and i guess it could be retaining alot of old fluid, but it's had a whole ton of fluid run through it. probably just put it up on my hoist and run it in the air with atf or somethin in it. i'll let ya know if it helps. Oh and no lucas, that crap belongs in farm tractors and beater trucks...
