Hey 'tuners,
So I'm pulling my transmission to replace my clutch/tob and everything in between and ordered new bolts for the transmission, as in the six(or seven, ill look) that hold it to the block from extremepsi. Anyway comparing them to my old ones that came off the car, they are similar but all very by at least a mm in length. The thread and pitch are right though. Does this mean that the last person who pulled the Trans. did a hack job or what? Also will this effect anything? I know I ordered them right and the bag says 2g on it. Ill see if I can post pictures.
thanks guys,
Matthew

I know when I did my transmission swap I had to grab a few bolts from the hardware store. Maybe your previous owner ran into that situation?

If the bolts match grade, length, pitch, and size you should be fine.

I just uploaded pictures under my profile. I guess I am just concerned about the length being different, as I've been plagued by Trans. problems from day one and ordered all new parts so as to do this once and do it right.

19Eclipse90: Thank you for the link, I had seen it before yet not saved it. As far as it being something relevant, I only thought it might be seeing as how the trans. bolts I took off were longer than the ones I will bolt on this week(cross your fingers) and thought the threads might have been damaged if the bolts, previously installed, messed up the thread because the longer bolts "screwed" in further.(I don't speak "techoese"; so try to do your best). Thanks again for the link.

On the transmission to block bolts (not the M8 one), you've also got to account for how much space the washers are taking up on those old bolts preventing them from threading in their full length.

If I remember correctly, the holes in the block have some clearance for the end of the bolts. They do not or, rather, should not bottom out when the correct bolts are correctly installed. If the old bolts were bottoming out and the threads messed up, you'd have a difficult time getting them out and it would be very evident on the bolts themselves. They look fine to me so I wouldn't worry about it.
