Searched but only found one un-resolved related issue. Here goes...
I drained the tranny today after putting 10K on it since the swap and the fluid I pulled out looked a lot like milk, or maybe Similac(baby formula)WTF . It was a kind of chalky off-white color and had some black streaks running through it. It also was very thin and seems to have lost a lot of it's viscosity.
I have never seen this in a manual tranny so I thought I would run it by you guys and see what you think. When I installed the tranny I filled it with Valvoline 75-90W gear oil. I drive pretty hard usually but I haven't raced since I got the tranny, it's never seen a shift over 7K.
Anyway, I refilled it and the transfer case with Royal Purple Synchromax today and the tranny feels great but I would still like to know WTF happened to my old fluid. Thanks for any input, ideas, etc... that you guys can offer.

Is your vent cap on the trans or broken off? Sounds like it might have gotten some water in with the fluid. Do you wash your engine bay?

Vent cap?
I am not aware of a vent cap on the MT, where is it? Yes, I have washed my engine bay recently and now that you mention it... The fluid looked a lot like the emulsified grease that washes out of the bay. Hmmmm......

come to think of it i may be thinking of the vent on the tcase. ill check later tonight when i repack my trans and tcase into seperate boxes to ship. damm ups wont take it because its over 150 lbs:mad:

edit: no vent cap just the 2 rubber elbows that point down to let fumes out and not let in water. make sure they arent torn and are pointed the right way.

Yeah, it was the damn rubber elbow. Looks like I got a bunch of degreaser/water in the trans. I'm sure I probably ruined the Royal Purple I refilled it with too. Fun, fun, fun, one more thing to fix before I can send my block out. Thanks for the replies, they jogged my mind just enough to figure it out.
