I was looking into having my piston rings and headgasket replaced and while the engines apart what else should I look into replacing? I was thinking some arp head studs, oem 2g pistons w/ rings, some sort of quality head gasket, and probably a new clutch and flywheel. I'm not after big power or some special number for my car, but I beat on it every day so I'm looking for it to be as reliable as possible.

you might as well put new bearings. it's like $70 for new bearings. new seals, Arp head studs, and a MLS head gasket

If you havent done the timing belt and water pump, id do it now it would be a great time to do it.

Also a good time to do a balance shaft removal kit now that the motor is out. That`s 1 less belt to fail later down the road to cause you problems, & also free up a few hp . . .

When you replace the timing belt, go with an oem mitsubishi timing belt or a stronger one machv.com offers a super strong timing belt and if you dont want to eliminate the balance shaft they even offer a stronger balance shaft belt. Aftermarket belts sold at everyday parts stores such as advanced auto, autozone, or nappa just dont cut it.

According to the previous owner they were changed about 25k mi ago but I'm not too shure about the water pump. I was also considering having the balance shafts removed but Im not too shure about it yet. Please keep giving me other suggestions I want to do this right.
