Well the latest on project EZ Bake,
I was going to drop the new turbo intercooler etc in this weekend and have English Racing stitch me a downpipe to match my V-band O2 housing. Well, the 1g that I got to replace EZ Bake as DD status decided she wanted to shit an alternator. On top of that when I got her up on the flatbed I noticed a pretty severe oil leak coming from the timing belt side of the engine. FML, adding insult to injury I was going through EZ Bake to complete whatever I could before the swap. I got the spal 1360 cfm fan in and cleaned and oiled the K&N. Its nice and slim, I give it 2 thumbs up. Then I went to look at why I am not holding boost to redline. Before I even got around to boost testing. I checked the opening vacuum of my Greddy RS Bov (previously set to 16in/hg) . The answer was FML, it wouldn't hold ANY vacuum. It popped up to 5 in/hg while I was pumping but the instant I released to pump again it went to 0 fast as I could read the gauge. So I take it off at about 1am. I hope its just a leak in the threads or something fouled the diaphragm. I take it apart on my kitchen table and find that there is a tear in the diaphragm. I think about using rubber cement and a bike patch. But I don't have any of that nonsense at my house. So I bust out the CA (super glue) Since I have to head to class in the am. I emailed Greddy about a replacement diaphragm But I doubt they even have any. IF I can get one to replace it, this bov will go on the DD since the EZ Bake intercooler has a Tial Q bolted on now. I guess 4 years isn't to bad for a piece of rubber saturated fabric.
Pics of the bov in the am...
movie later, its 446 am. I got the bov back togather as I was watching a movie and I tuned it to open a bit sooner than I had previously had it set. It should hold for at least a week or so till I get a new diaphragm. It will at least work better than it did last week
. Later I Should do a write up on BOV's and how everyone screws up when they set them.
