I have only heard of haltech, PMS, and AEM. Since I have not heard it I would go with something that is more popular so people can help you tune easier such as the AEM or maybe haltech. If you have a 2G I would recommend getting DSM link even though it is not a full standalone.

I am not worried about the tuning part of it. My dad can help me with that he has a 65 stang that has a 302 with alum gurney eagle heads with accel dfi that has 1 48mm throttle body for each cylinder. it made 330 whp with a really mild cam that is designed for tow trucks, and got 25+ mpg so i think i am covered there. I really want a stand alone because afc's and all that is just a band-aid . it works but marginal. I would get a aem but it's like 1500. this microtech is only 850. i have a 1g so dsm link no good.
thanks kurt

There are many other options for DSMs and computer control. If you have a 2g, or don't mind doing some wiring changes, there's DSMLink. There's also very inexpensive chips by "Keydiver" and he can adjust for differently sized injectors, along with providing other performance enhancements, and then you can still do smaller adjustments with an AFC on the fly, and not throw off your timing.

Or, if you're a big geek, you can "grow your own" ECU ROMs, and write your own code, change your own timing and fuel tables.

Mircotech is huge in AUS. They have a very good reputation and come highly recommended. The only real problem I see in using one of there systems would be wiring it in. If you are a decent automotive electrican I guess this wouldn't be an issue. The other problem is that not many people here in the states run that system so finding product support may be difficult at best.

Right now if I were shopping for standalones I would go with Autronic or AEM EMS. DSMLink would be my choice for a border line standalone/ECU mod, but only for a 2g. For an NT I really think the Greddy E-Manage system with all optional harness and software support would be the best option.

I know of 2 1g's that have switched over to OBDII for DSM link and both of them said it was not too difficult. DSMlink on a 1g is an option. Wouldn't it be great if you got your car to dyno more than your dads?

more hp than the stang is kind of what i am goin for, that or at least better track times. the fastest his car went like that was 13.27 but it had traction issues. first pass on slick the ole 28 spline 9 inch ford rear went kaboom. Wireing in a microtech wouldn't be a problem for me. i already did the turbo conversion, and a auto to 5 speed swap. I run a turbo computer, and all that good stuff. I just don't really want to piss with the piggy back that much. when i get my car back together i plan on using a maf translator. and maybee burning my own chip

hi, microtech is a very good brand of engine control is australian and very easy to use i solve all problems in cars with big turbos and big injectors and lots of hp
