sweet pics.... hope next months meet turns out to be even bigger

+1. Let's recruit as many people as we can.

Now on the next month's planning. Now that WE MIAMI guys drove up to you guys in markham park, now this time let's do it the other way around.
You broward guys get together and come down to tropical park to us.
Seems fair me to me, who's aboard ?

The meet was fun, but I probably wont be attending any meets that are further south for me, sorry guys :( Im too far north. Unless I know for a fact that there's gonna be 20+ DSMs and girls, then Ill think about it LOL. Markham park is a great park, we should have more meets there. I think its right in the middle of where everyone is, makes it a fair that way.

Rick, how's that video comin'?

Seems like you guys had a good turnout. Maybe I will come out to the next one since I registered the vert.

Sweet. I doubt you even remember me...you know Agim (red 97 GST), his friend Mike who, at the time, had a red 96 GS n/t with a 2GB conversion...Im Mike's brother LOL. I use to come to the DSM meets back before I had a drivers license.

ha ha It has been a while. I kind of sort of do.

So where's the next meet going to be at ? I'm confused. Let's see what the planners richard and chris have to say.

Rick, how's that video comin'?

We took a combination of still pictures and video from 2 different cameras.

One camera is my standard Canon which takes 4X3 aspect ratio pics and AVI format video at 640X480 @30 frames per second Standard Definition.

The other camera is a Canon Hi-Def video camera. This one takes up to 1920X1080 widescreen format still pics but also Hi-Def video in AVCHD format (more on the AVCHD video below).

So far I have downloaded to my PC over 3.44 GIGABYTES of the standard definition 640X480 @ 30 FPS AVI video and another 56 megabytes of still photos from the meets. NONE of that is the much larger data sized hi-definition AVCHD format video - that is another 2+/- gigabytes.

Guys, I simply do not have the time right now to properly edit all that (much less the hi def AVCHD content) and upload to YouTube or Photobucket right now.

I will do a few pics tonight at least to photobucket and link here.

The data size so far (not counting the AVCHD hi def video) of roughly 3.5 gigabytes. It will obviously NOT fit on a standard 700 MB CD. I am more than happy to copy it all to a DVD which can then be played on any PC (so long as it has a DVD drive). I'll burn a dozen or so copies of this and distribute to Chris for the next meet. If anyone wants one, please send me a PM so I get a solid count of the number of copies. I only ask that you all reimburse me $1 for the cost of each of the blank DVDs you take (I'm obviously not doing this to make any $$).

********

About the AVCHD Video:

The AVCHD format is still in early stages of development. Raw AVCHD video will NOT play on many PCs or ANY TVs unless:
A) The video camera itself is directly plugged in to a Hi Def or non high def TV or PC
or
B) the chip inside the camera is put into the AVCHD slot of a compatible Blu-Ray player connected to a PC or TV
or
C) the PC is VERY powerful - very few PCs are strong enough (CPU and video card) and can actually play back the raw video - my laptop can but its choppy at full screen res. At 50% size its fine.

D) Copied initially to the PC, then using a BLU-RAY BURNER on the PC burned to a Blu-Ray disc for playback on blu-ray devices.

If you have a "weak" PC its not simply a matter of copying the RAW AVCHD format video to a standard DVD or Flash Drive, then installed to the PC for it to be played using Media Player. If the PC is weaker, the AVCHD must first be edited using a powerful PC with special (and expensive) software. The editing and encoding process to convert from AVCHD to some other format like AVI or standard DVD takes literally many HOURS to complete. I do not yet have the editing software or a strong enough PC to be able to do this.

I am accordingly limited to watching this using the methods above. I don't have a blu-ray burner, just a blu-ray player). (The high def video looks totally BAD ASS by the way!). I'll bring my laptop the next meet as well and it will play back the AVCHD content but its a little choppy at full resolution. On a blu-ray player its silky smooth and hi def. Eventually I will get the proper PC and software and do a cool high quality video of the meet but that is months away.

If any of you are familiar with AVCHD video and have the necessary PC/Software to edit and view this I'll be happy to burn it to a DVD in raw AVCHD data format and you can have at it. PM me so I can include the AVCHD stuff on the DVD I'll burn. I have to check the total data size - both non HD and HD content combined. If its more than what a standard DVD can fit (approx 4.7 GB) I'll have to either use a DOUBLE LAYER DVD which are much more expensive or split into two different standard DVDs. PM me if you need/want this.

damn dude thanks for the update on the vid... hope your comp has enough space for all that data...id say take your time man...the more footage is on there the better! :thumb:
