methanol without innercooler

Well we tried ethanol with methanol without an innercooler and didnt work so well. First we've tried it with a 12gph nozzle and got high IAT's well above 200* with 50/50 methanol. Then we added a 17gph nozzle and switched to 100% methanol and got the IAT's down to 100*. But then that's when the problem occured the methanol wasnt getting distributed equally to each cylinder which would cause 1 cylinder to lean out so much that it melted the spark plug and burned up a valve. So I dont recommend anyone tring this. You would have to direct port the methanol and go standalone to control everything and 4 EGT's for each cylinder and probaly have a better chance of making it work as for us were putting back the innercooler and putting 1 nozzle back 10gph and working with that...

i have seen it done. and i have seen it work well you are right you do need a good way to adjust fuel injectors but any real tune shop can get it done right. you are the man for giving this a try nice job

IIRC Shep used meth w/o an IC to run high 7's. I think it's just a matter of getting good distribution and the right mixture. I also think that it's less about charge temps and more about the low volatility of meth... but that's just an impression.

PM Turboglenn. IIRC he's running an IC les setup using methanol. You really only need 2 nozzles, one pre TB and one pre turbo. Having a stand alone isn't needed either to do it especially seeing that this has been done for a long long time. A lot of the turbo Buick guys run this kind of setup.

What setup were you using, you need more details in the parts used and location. The larger the nozzle, the larger the droplets will become.

Also, not all brands are equal for their setups wiu nozzle design and pump output pressure. What mixture of methanol were you using? What turbo with what boost level as well?

Being a month old, hopefully op can remember this.

I think the 50/50 mix was good but IMO a small nozzle should be setup pre compressor to keep the charge temp down and another nozzle before TB. This is a very good read for anyone looking to run a non IC setup I def learned alot from it

Lucas English did meth with no intercooler on the Turd. I was talking about possibly upgrading to a 16g and a new FMIC in the near future with him and he said I should just dropped the FMIC and go straight meth like he did on the Turd. It was jokingly but there was defiantly wisdom in his words, if I knew how I'd consider it in the future when I have more money to spend on something I don't know too much about.

It's cool to see someone else trying something a bit different.

Sense I don't want to get a tech post for pretty much a BS post I will add this though, you could always call and ask them for some advice.
