metal type of the coolant pipe and theromstat housing?

Is the water pipe and theromstat housing made of steel? or some other kind of metal. I would answer the questions for myself, But i'm at college and all my ideas always hit me when i can't physically look at the car.

Im pretty sure they are aluminum.

The thermostat housing is Aluminum and pretty sure the water pipe is to.

i'll be able to weld the water pipe. Guess i just have to loop the lines on the housing for now. Untill i can tig it.

+1, my water pipe has rust on it. The thermo housing has corrosion. Two different forms of deterioration for identifying the type of metal used.
