Well this is the 2nd time changing the oil since I rebuilt the motor with a new crank and rods. It has 650 miles since it was rebuilt. The first time i changed it was the day after the rebuild and the 2nd time is now. I noticed some very small pieces of metal in the oil and some in the filter. It wasnt alot thou. Should I be worried or is that still ok for only having 650 miles on the rebuild?

just the crank and bearings. Checked the rods and they were still good.

Check your clutch fork for play, you should have some. You should be able to move it about 1/4 to 1/2 side to side. Also, when you push it towards the passenger side it should stop half way in the window once the TOB contacts the clutch.

If you have some play then it's all good. If it's tight and you can't move it with your fingers then you are hanging your clutch and you have a problem. If this is the case, post back or PM me.

Maybe its incorrect clearance on the bearings when they were replaced.

Only other thing i could think of is crank walk, possibly from an incorrect tq sequence.

yea, I got the correct bearings. I just hope its from breaking it in. It wasnt alot so maybe I shouldnt worry about it too much yet.

Pretty normal for a freshly rebuilt engine to have some shavings in the oil. If everything else checks out, get a magnetic drain plug and use mobil 1 or k&n oil filters. You should have changed it after the first 30 minutes of run time, then at 100 miles, then 300, then 1000.

well since the car is in my garage now anyways getting the tranny rebuilt, Im going to drop the oil pan and take a look at the bearings. Ill let you know how they are...

okk, I just checked all the rod bearings and they all looked good. One had a small gash in it. You really couldnt feel it with your nail and it was only like a half inch long, so Im not too worried about it. It was ###### from the left over metal in the oil. It shouldnt get any worse since Im putting new oil in.
