Well, the title I believe says it all. What are your opinions on DSMlink and Megasquirt? Whats the benefits of one or the other? I see many people running MegaSquirt but I've worked with DSM link and it seems an easy platform to work with.

Basically my question is how are they different and what do you run?

This isn't for my 95 I'm thinking in general whats the differences in the systems.

The MS3 has 8 sequential fuel injector outputs and 8 ignition outputs. So you can run 8 inectors and a true COP setup native with the MS. Its SD based but it does have many features and has a auto tune feature. Its also a quad core cpu o do believe or i could be wrong and its a duel core. Dont remember witch. So its more than fast enough to do whatever u need it to do. There are also many many many different things you can do. Elec fan output nos output methanol output duel maps(could be more) E85 switchable. Means u use the GM e8 detector and itll auto switch to the E85 tune automaticly. It doea not have knock sensor support out of the box. You can use the GM knock sensore and detector circuit with it. And from what i here its a damn good sensor at that. I do have a MS2 but not for my dsm and i do not ise link. But depending on the application either one can be very well talored to that need

Good to know. Looks like for next rebuild I'll be budgeting in MS3.

And yes, I liked DSMlink for simplicity. Didn't know you couldn't use it on the N/T, but then again I had only dealt with the turbo versions.

Guess I'll just have to learn new software. Not a biggie. Like that MS3 has an auto-tune feature to start from. Thanks for the replies :thumb:

That's grossly simplifying the matter. At this point, MS3 far surpasses DSMLink in terms of features.

They are absolutely correct. Someone competent with EFI would never ask the differences between systems except maybe a quick question like available number of injector outputs on a given ECU model or something like that. Also, anyone competent, would probably already have a preferred system that they like to use.

I can't see anyone who knows how to setup a car saying "what is the difference between MS and AEM?"

how about

They all end in TEC, so what is the difference between micro, hal and mo?

And far surpasses the knowledge you need to get everything right compared to link, reflashing, or burning chips.
Not really. The biggest hurdle is the wiring (the plug-and-play feature is arguably DSMLink's only remaining leg up on MS), and even then, there are plug-and-play versions of MS (for both the 420A and 4G63) on the horizon. Tuning MS is just like tuning any other EMS.

I don't really know what your point is...

Regardless, this argument is moot since the OP has a 420A and DSMLink is incompatible with it.
