Please don't type with "caps lock" on... it makes it look like you're shouting.

Installing a Megasquirt ECU isn't difficult, it's just a matter of splicing or tapping about one to two dozen wires (depending on how involved you want the process to be). Take a look at a Megasquirt wiring diagram to get you started:

Just a note. When I did that write-up it was kinda up to date at the time. But even then, there were differences in hook ups depending on how/what you were doing. Right now that write-up will give you an idea of what it takes to install (kind of a confidence builder) but you won't necessarilly follow it to a T.

And I see you are in Mass. If at some point you need a tuner, Matt K at Densport in Norwood is the king of MSnS tuning.

thanks guys i appreciate the info i will check out the diagram and see what i can do (sorry bought the caps dident know intill i samitted the thred) and bulletdsm i was going to tune myself juss to get it started because im kind of familer with the steps on how to tune but if he is as good as you say he is ill give it a shot so he has his own shop and whats he charge... thanks guys for the help

i bought the pre assembeld one just because i dident want to go thew the stress on assembling one my self or paying a s**t load of money on getting it assembled so your getting 1g diypnp 52pin megasqurit good choice i would get it assembled unless your going to pay for someone to assemble it for you...

I dont blame you for getting a pre assembled one. The new diypnp 52pin doesnt come that way yet... So im going to be building it myself, I might try to find someone to do it, but im not sure yet.
My soldering skills are okay, so im hoping it wont be too bad. Ive done a few small bread board electronics, but i wont know till i get it in my hands.

yea i that sounds good just be carefull you dont miss install anything and good luck bro i would have gone that route to but found the assembeld one so i just got that one im better off but the pain is the instalation...then the fun part the tune

can anyone elaborate on the differences between megasquirt and afx ecu and the pros and cons thanks

MS-II is better for if you're planning on going turbo and AFX isn't, also MS controls spark/fuel i don't know for sure if AFX does that or not.

yea i agree megasqurit will work 10x better then afx if your going turbo but if your not then i would still recomend megasqurit but i really wont depend on afx with ms you have the option of tuneing your ride to your taste for the road afx i belive the tuneing is limited correct if im wrong...

Sweet jebus. WTF

As for your question, the AFX ECU is used as-is. There are no adjustments to be made. It supposedly "learns" new conditions, but most all ECU's do that anyway (Google "fuel trim"). Megasquirt ECU's, on the other hand, are fully user programmable and can be set to control a wide variety of configurations. Don't let the word "programmable" intimidate you, though; the tuning software has a very user-friendly interface that's easy to navigate.

EDIT: let me rephrase, you can see the set up of the tuning software and all the different functions it allows here

MegaTune

MegaTune is actually on its way out. Most of the newer firmware doesn't support it anymore. The Megasquirt community is already beginning to migrate to the newer tuning software option, TunerStudioMS. Adoption of this new software will soon be mandatory.

Oh, thank you good to know! I'll be switching to that soon then probably...it is required for MS-II?

Simple if you read through the manuals of how to do it and research a bit on the best settings for your car...and then of course, trimming off bits and pieces of settings you need to change slightly as you get the car up and running.

If you live near MA, there's a shop on Norwood where the man there is extremely talented at tuning MS if you don't want to. That is the only place SymTech Labs will recommend.
Dent Sport is the place

It's not really required for MS-II, but it is required to take advantage of some of the features in some of the later MS2/Extra code releases.

so would getting mega squirt be more "beneficial" from the performance aspect than afx ecu?

Has any made a write on how to make it a full standalone.I've seen the write up on 2gnt. I want to remove my stock ecu.I see a 5v ref on megasquirt, but I,m not clear on the wiring.(3 on tps 4 on idle 3 on crank). Do we need the cam syn.? last how do u set knock?
