which is the better budget downpipe. i have heard great things about both, but which is better. what are the differences between the two? which mounts the best and whihc performs the best.
and if you have personal pic please post them, ebay pics are never too accurate.

lets determine a victor of budget downpipes.

I had a megan racing and the thing fit, looked , sounded and performed like a champ :rocks: . Installing it was like night and day with the car. I would say go with megan racing, I have neard some bad things about tsudo

I'd say you can't get a much better deal on a downpipe than a Megan Racing one. Got mine off Ebay for 130 shipped. I didn't see any flaws on it at all.

I have the Tsuedo downpipe for the GST from eBay. I have no complaints about it whatsoever. Installed easily and the fitment was perfect.

Also I just noticed that the Megan above doesn't have hangers? Is that normal on a GSX?

installed my 3" megan racing downpipe and 3" custom exhaust performance like a champ( only been installed a week) but no complaints here, on the downpipe.. just the rice can muffler noise.. ugh its annoying..

i also have the 3" Megan Racing Pipe, when i put it on i noticed alot of power in mid range and that i was alot more free flowing and also the car felt smoother during boost and what not. if i were you go with the Megan Racing good deal i got mine last summer for around 110 shipped :rocks: just wish i could finish three inches with a magnaflow :(

I picked up the 3" megain racing DP and bolted it up to a 3" Tsudo catback. Entire exhaust system was around 400 to my door. I feel an obvious power increase and it sounds great, no cat, 2 resonators and a straight through muffler, its deep on heavy accel and quiet at cruise. Fitment was perfect, the megan DP had all hangers on my TSi FWD. Take note that the Megan DP its 2.5 inches for the first bend then becomes 3" after the flex section and the flange is slightly smaller then 3". I dont mind the 2.5 inch first bend because my talon is a daily driver too and I have read that it helps prevent boost creep and although thats not the only cause, I have never got any on my B16G with this DP. Also the Tsudo catback had a 2.5 inch flange to bolt up to a factory cat back. If you get out your grinder you can have a full 3" for a good price. Get the megan racing. :thumb:

Nope, the new Megan downpipes are 2.75" at the inlet and taper immediately to 3" all the way thru to the cat. The are no neckdowns after the first 1" or so. There is a midpipe hanger but no hanger for the engine block. Great deal though.

i got megan 3" downpipe for 110.00 shipped. Needed to shave the flange to mount IF you have a open 02 that sticks really close.. Other then that awesome pipe for the price.

Is that true for gst and gsx?
Yes my Megan downpipe for my TSi FWD doesnt have a block hangar, Im sure you could make one if you felt the need but the o2 housing has been holding it just fine for about six months for me with no problems at all.

Megan Racing has excellent build quality. Welds in their exhaust systems are even better than the HKS Carbon Titanium that I have or the Greddy system I nearly bought.

I have the Tsudo 3" downpipe on my car, the welds are very nice on it, and it elimated the cat. Only downer is that it bottle necks to 2.5 inches at the end, but I just cut it off. Not bad for $120 shipped :thumb:

I had the block hangar on my car on my apexi downpipe. The dp was was SO secure, that the hangar snapped off the downpipe and took a 5" hole out of it. After I had it welded shut and the hangar taken off, no problems. Needless to say, I threw away my apexi downpipe because it was garbage and got the nicest downpipe I have ever seen on ebay. It was 89 dollars plus shipping and I have never seen a downpipe as bling as this one. Quality is downright perfection. www.truspeedracing.com Since his dp's have been a big seller, he's been jacking up the prices. LOL

I bought one of those Truspeeds too. Very good price I must say for a polished stainless tig weleded pipe. But the flanges are not welded on straight. And I had to take a hammer to it at the O2 collector cause there was no clearance for a socket to go on the bolts. I paid $78.00 plus $35.00 to ship.

I just got my Tsudo downpipe on yesterday and i have to say i love it. It comes with the hanger for the block and I think it looks like a great piece. I have owned Tsudo exhausts on other cars of mine and I loved them, the look and the sound was awesome, so i figured i couldn't go wrong wth their downpipe. The only problem i had with the downpipe was once i got it on and started the car, when it warmed up it was blowing smoke bad. One of the Techs at my work said it could be bad valve seals, I said lets take it for a drive. After the drive it had stopped and it hasn't done it since, My thought is it was just burning the coating off the inside of the pipe.

Do any of these downpipes allow you to use a cat or is that completely eliminated. I'd love to be able to pass inspection so I kinda want the cat there.

I went with a tsudo and wish I'd gone with a megan. I had trouble getting the tsudo to line up with the bolts on the 02 housing.

Does anyone have any more reviews on the fitment of the Megan dp? And does anyone know how much it would be to convert it to a "short" pipe to use a cat? Like how much a muffler shop would charge to cut it and weld a flange on?

I bought an ebay psudo downpipe. It stated that it completely replaced the stock PRECAT.
Well sir, it replaced the precat and the cat. Now I have to hack it up and stuff a cat in there. It runs great unrestricted, but it is illegal and I now have to breathe the fumes at rest.
