charlottetown,
Hey, im looking to pick up a 3" downpipe and I have heard the megan racing is alright. Although I know there have been issues with fitment etc. So whats the story on them now?? Did they solve the issues they were having??

And if so whats the cheapest place to pick one up??

Sorry about posting this here, but I am not allowed to post in the bolt on forum so I cant post in the thread already started there.

I have sold several and haven't had one issue with quality, fitment, etc.

Feel free to contact me directly at 615-424-4001 and I can get you fixed up.

I dont browse the boards very often, so please dont PM me, etc.

Chris

check out megan racings website and check for authorized dealers. We have actually seen people selling SSA style shit in Megan boxes. Knocking off Megan just seems insane but we have seen it. We are an Authorized Megan distributor too.

Not to hijack the thread but the price of MR exhaust components seem too good to be true. I have only heard good things about them once they fixed some of their fitment issues. I just don’t want something so cheap it sounds like a kazoo.

I’ve searched short of calling MR and asking for detailed pictures and sound/video clips of a full MR exhaust on a 1g - anyone know where I can find images or even better, video or sound clips of the MR exhaust on a 1g?

A pipe is a pipe, they're all gonna sound the same. Some are just made out of better materials, but that just affects how long it will hold up. What makes the difference in noise are resonators, cats, mufflers, etc. There is a link to a sound clip of the whole system though. I will look for it and get it for you.

Edit:
Here you go, this thread is about the entire system for the 1g with pics and a vid.

Hi,

I was talking with Calvin over at Megan Racing today about you guys, and he had some great things to say about you.

I'm his largest dealer in the Nissan Community and have been a dealer of his for about five years now, but we carry the entire MR product line as the rest of his dealers do.

I see you are an authorized vendor, so I hope the members will send business your way. Glad to see someone is taking care of the DSM community.

I just noticed we kept getting hits on our website from this website, and I wanted to clarify the information.

This is the Megan Racing 3" Downpipe and Exhaust with Resonator on my 2006 Subaru WRX.

Sounds low, and has a nice rumble to it. It is FAR from the typical Honda weedeater sounding exhaust, as my wife likes to refer to them. :D

This thread explains the revision that was made to the 2gAWD 3" downpipe, started by the guy who volunteered his car to MR for the measuring and fitment. The downpipe has been revised and it seems that all the issues have been resolved. A few of the issues that I recall hearing about were the necking down at the flex section or the O2 flange, and the flanges at the cat being crooked.

On the last page are some pics I and a few other members took of a few different versions of the MR downpipes. Mine is a 2g AWD, and someone else posted pics of a 1g AWD. I have also just ordered a Megan Racing 2g cat-back system and am just waiting for it to arrive.

Yes, Megan always does a testfit before releasing the products to the market.

Sometimes it is done in-house at their facility in CA, sometimes it is done by Authorized Distributors like myself.

You have keep in mind they have probably 300-500 total products that they have brought to the market, and I'd guess less than 2% of those have had issues....which is a great statistic for a company of there size.

Chris, i hope it didn't look like i was saying you guys were doing anything like that bud. just stating that some of the ebay hacks were doing it and we had seen it. That's why i said to make sure they deal with authorized distributors.

we have been working with Megan for a long time and have a great relationship with them. We have helped testing and development of their 1g, 2g DSM coilovers and various other projects.

:rocks:

so, do either of your, or would you be willing to ship full 2g AWD megan exhaust to Canada USPS? I can't find any distrubutor up here.. not that I've looked real hard but.. USPS is the only way I order from the states, UPS/Fedex double the cost of the item with their outrageous brokerage fees... also, dont' these come with some kind of silencer? was that on in the vid of the 1g?

Well, since the original topic was on the DP, and you said you didn't want something that sounded stupid, I was just kinda throwing the obvious out there that two downpipes of the same size wouldn't sound any different. But yeah, I figured you would know that anyways.

That sounds nasty. I love it.

I can ship via USPS to you, as I ship packages to Canada every week. Megan Makes Coilovers for the R32 Skyline, so we have a large customer base up there.

Try the authorized vendor on here first, but if he can't, I'll be happy to do it.

Yep, their exhausts sound fantastic...

Ive got one on my 90 AWD. Quality seem'd quite nice, all the welds were nice, and just made my exhaust note deeper. No fitment issue's atall.
