calgary,
I am looking at getting the megan 3" downpipe. It says it bolts right up. Is this true... I Have the stock o2 housing still but it is ported and polished.. Thanx

same here for my 97 gst. bolted right up after you take the little brace off of the motor that holds the stock down pipe in place. nice quality pipe. all stainless and chromed. A+

Did you guys notice a difference. In the butt dyno? I am ordering anyways but was just wondering... TTY

Just to clarify ... you guys are running stock exhaust? or do you have upgraded 3" exhaust from the cat back? I haven't tried to install the downpipe yet. But if I need a new exhaust to match up to the exit I was thinking of going with the Megan NT 3" exhaust for the GST. Any one use that exhaust? And will the downpipe mate up with the stock exhaust despite the diameter difference?

I just picked one up for my 1G too. Looks sharp, clean welds & a nice polished SS finish. seems to be made of 304 SS. From what I have read in other DSM forums, a Megan downpipe is a pretty good product. Let me know how you make out with it. It will be another couple weeks before mine goes in. I have to finish my suspension, brakes & tranny first.

:talon:

Butt dyno says :thumb: . The only problem I had with mine was I had to hammer the pipe down so I could squeeze a socket in there to bolt it down. It's a nice piece though. I also have a 3" high-flow cat and a Thermal R&D rear section.

You dont need to hammer.

Use a socket on one.. Run it down and leave it loose.. Slide the pipe all the way to the other side and run that one down but still loose. Center the pipe on the o2 and finish tightening with a open end wrench or crowsfoot socket.

Another option is removing the studs from the o2 housing and bolting the downpipe to the o2 using socket head bolts (aka allen head) or torx head bolts.

The Megan 2.5" in 3" out Downpile (also replaced the cat) Is one nice piece of metal.. I just got mine in 2 days ago.. It came with warranty card, bolts and gaskets.. I am very happy with the construction of it.. the the polish.. It also has a nice polish.. and a MEGAN Plate welded to the side.. make it look nice.. and can't want to install it..

(I really don't want to jack up the card and put it in stands and get under to install it (for safety reasons.... so I need to get a muffler shop to do it for me..) Heck they where charging me $100 to install which should only take 20 minutes at most... Well I gotta keep looking... (Some shops will not remove your old pipe if you are eliminating the cat..

I also have straight 3in all the way to my tip!.. and a Power Effect Capsule Muffler.. Check it out!! http://www.powereffects.com Make the car sound DEEP!!.. (no can noise here!)

is the megan downpipe for the 2g fwd a 3in exit? or a 2.5? i wonder because i have a apexi catback which will allow me to take out that reducer if i can find a downpipe that exits 3in. thanks in advance guys and gals!

The MEGAN Downpipe is 2" 1/2 IN and 3" out.. I just went to a muffler shop and had mine put in... about 40 minuets ago..

Charge me $40 to put it in..... not to bad.. the other companies wanted $100 to remove it.. (Most people don't want to do it because it removes your cat!) but heck for $40 I don't mind... (for the safety factor!! don't want to get quashed under the car you know..)

You can by them directly at www.meganracing.com They shipped mine the same day I ordered it.. only took 5 days to get to me.. from CA to FL

Well as you can see I installed my Megan Downpipe with the cat eliminator.. The resultes are:

Pros:
Seems to have better RPM range
I can feel much more power

Cons:
Now car sounds like a tin can (Wich I hate that sound)
I see more Black smoke at times.. (white car bumper black dust specs)

Conclussion... I might go back to my stock down pipe with cat...... or if I can some how make the car sound less tinny and more bass deep as it used to sound...
