well we installed one on my friends car, and we were afraid of boost spikes so we were careful. it boosted to 18 or so and kept going... we didnt let it go past 18. we were trying to tune in 15 lbs but went a little over...LOL. then we turned it down to about 13. Then the car started to detonate on us. we took it off since then and havnt put it back on. Anyone have any advice? ( what we need or what might have happened):dsm:

How were you measuring boost?? Are you using the stock gauge or an aftermarket gauge??

What MBC are you using and where did you get it?? Did it come with instructions? Did you follow them?? Or is this a homemade MBC?

How do you know the car was "dentonating"?

What turbo/exhaust do you have?

You need to provide more information.

Also very important: How was the MBC hooked up to prevent boost spikes?

Nevermind... let me just say you should have it hooked up to your compressor/j-pipe instead of teeing from your bov.

Like already mentioned.

1. Different brand/type requires different hook up.

2. There are three ways to overboost, boost spike, boost creep or just flate out infinite boost each requires different solutions.

Without more detailed info we can't really help you.

We are measuring boost by an aftermarket Faze gauge bought at autozone. It has boost and vacuum. The MBC is a homemade parts are bought from home depo. I know it was detonating because the car started to die when boost had built. Mabye i am mistaken and the car is not getting enough fuel.

no skillz- You say i hooked it up to the j- pipe. I hooked it up on the IC pipe coming off of the turbo. how am i able to T- it off to the BOV? Thanks for the info

Make sure that your boost source (turbo/j-pipe) and wastegate actuator are connected to the correct ports of your MBC (make sure they are not reversed). Check all of your couplers, hose clamps, etc. throughout your intake to make sure none of them have popped-off. If you see no obvious leaks, you may want to perform a boost leak test just to be sure.
