maximum injector size without a DSMlink?

I've been under the impression that in order to run larger injectors, you need some sort of tuning device to control them (SAFC, DSMlink). However, Ive been reading through the turbo system tech forum, as well as some other forums and now im hearing that you can run up to 1000 injectors with a keydiver chip?

Im not looking to run 1000s, but would it be possible to run 850s with an SAFC and a Keydiver chip?

Yes, the correction in the chip makes the ECU work like the injectors were factory stock parts.

That is as long as the injector flow rates match the parameters programmed in the chip.

You can run any size you want with a chip, no problem.

The SAFC becomes difficult to tune with by itself with 650cc's, or roughly 200cc larger than what your ECU is set for, which means if your chip is set for 650's you'll have some difficultly tuning if you use an SAFC and 850's. But if you have a chip set for slightly smaller than the size you want to use, you can fine tune with the SAFC.

is this the same the other way? like, if my future build plans called for 1000s, but at the time i only needed 650s, could i tune them down? or could i only tune 1000s down to about 800?

The SAFC has both positive and negative adjustment ability so the closer your chip is to the real injector parameters the better.

Novablue454, you would want to have the chip changed if you went from 650cc injectors to 1000cc ones.

So then how far can you down tune? 200 below the chip? Im thinking that the stockers are 450s, so i could get a chip burned for 650s and then install 850s, but tune them down to 450s untill I get more mods? Or am I way off base?

Just get the right chip for what you need and then have it upgraded when you need it.
I know Jeff's upgrade charges are very reasonable.

In general more than a 30% correction creates other problems with timing and idle.

From what I know Jeff at DSMchips charges $20 to change parameters, so if you went from 650cc to 1000cc, pay the $20 and have a new map.

yea the chip works great... and if you ever increase size of inj or need other adjustments you can send it back for 20 to be edited like DGajre777 was saying.
