The master and slave cylinders went out on my car. I had the car towed and taken to a tranny shop because I didn't have time to mess with it that day. The shop told me it was going to be about $400 to replace them. Am I getting ripped? Every search I did on here said it should only cost between $150-$200, but they don't say if that is doing it yourself or not.

depends where you get the parts

the price for about $150 is the do it your self price for parts. also depends where you get the parts. the slave you will most likely have to get from the dealer but the master you can get from pepboys for around $60 compared to $120ish at the dealer.

either place you get the parts they are both still good quality for this application, after all its just a cylinder seal piston. $400 for both installed is a little high but not bad nothing insane

i wouldnt buy the slave cylinder from an autoparts store, they are usually pieces of shit. i have bought my master cylinder from an autoparts store and havnt had problems with it. i did both of mine for like 75$ when i bought them from autozone. funny how it can quadruple when you dont do it yourself.

Don't tell me that....My slave went out today, so I bought a new one at Advanced Discount Auto parts for 20 bucks.....I hope it's not crapy. I actualy had a factory one istalled 23days ago, and it went out today....thats why I decided to not get a factory one this time.....I think 23days is a little short life.
