i have a huge coolant leak in the back of my engine bay on my 98 eclipse gs, does anyone know what tube, metal, or rubber, could be the suspect, or has anyone else had the same problem?

If it is a huge coolant leak it could be a freeze plug that has been blown out or has been broken. One of my friend has a EVO and it blew a freeze plug when he was running it one night. So I would say you have blown a freeze plug on your car if it is a major coolant leak. :thumb:

just so you guyz know how bad it is, i ran out of all my coolant, it was full before, it ran out in about 1/4 mile.

i am pretty sure its not the freeze plug, because if it was it would be like a friggen river coming outta the block, it looks like it is from one of the lines, it is more like a small stream falling in mid air.

HMM... I really don't know then.. The only major coolant leak I can think of is a freeze plug but you don't think that is whats wrong with it. Have you tried to look at the back of the engine and see where it is coming from? Try filling the coolant up and start the car up and look at the back of the engine and see where the coolant is leaking from. Be sure and don't run the car long and over heat it.

thats what i am thinking, i just dont want to be ruff checking the hoses and jack the heater core.

i just had my freeze plug replaced last week. the mechanic told me that if you dont change your antifreeze every once in a while it loses its corrosion protection qualities. my freeze plug only had a small rust hole in it. fill up your antifreeze and look directly in the middle of the block under the intake mani and see if its leaking there before you take those hoses off.

auctually i replaced the radiator the day before, but the leak was a heater core hose, i replaced BOTH, so i didnt got the cheap rout
