I heard the auto trans hold a lot more horses than the manual. But I feel the manual is more enjoyable to drive.
 
There's a lot more to it than just putting in a different trans. There's write ups on how to do the swap with a list of parts you need. I'd search around a little bit and get a better idea of what you're possibly getting yourself into if you don't know already. But, for a trans I'd look at all the dsm forum's classified sections. There's dsmtalk, dsmtuners (of course), craigslist, ebay, dsmsource...

I agree search and research. I thought swapping the F5M22(nt) to the F5M33(fwd t) was going to be easy. I took the trans off about 3 times before I got everything right.
 
TRE in Kalamazoo. But like everyone else has said, only after you figure out if you can actually handle something like this.
