As, the title States.

Some may or may NOT agree, but again this boils down to personal preference.

I have gotten to the point with my 2g, where I don't enjoy driving manual anymore for a few reasons.

-Shifter and Throw just isn't as nice as more modern day cars, especially owning a s2k it is hard to drive any other manual car and not be disappointed. Throw is short it is smooth everything about it. Yeah, it's a tough comparison but given the age and ERA of DSM's that is a good enough reason.

-Rush hour traffic sucks, and I find it will be nice to just use my foot for accelerator and brake pedal.

I find that I don't do much spirited driving in the city as much and mainly the car is my DD. I think I would just find life easier with a DD as an Auto. If I hit the track, usually it's just the drag strip and really.. I don't mind just putting the foot on the floor and lettting the transmission do the rest of the work. Turbo's and setups I will ever do wouldn't be big huge builds as most of you have. I've thought a lot about this and it has gotten me this far to ask the question and get some opinions.

Transmission would cost me $500-$700. Labor I have a friend to help swap.

Who recommends this is worth the Money, Time I have. or Would one rather go and buy a Auto GSX/Tsi AWD.

Tell me what ya think?

I'm in the same boat. I have knee problems, and an ACT 2600 with a solid 4 puck disc isn't helping me. I to have a 2g. I have the auto trans, t case, EPROM TCU, and torque converter already. I'm only missing a few things (which a vender on here is helping me out with). I would def. recommend it!!

It would likely be easier to just buy an A/T car, or find someone willing to go 1:1 on a trade with you that wants to swap their A/T to M/T.

Whats holding you back from doing the swap? Time? Money? Lack of motivation? Finding the parts is (was) the hardest part for me so far. I didn't do the swap yet, but I'm guessing my next biggest hurtle is going to be the TCU wiring harness.

Weighing out the options, hoping some of the feedback will give me better insight..

My brother is thinking of taking this one off my hands, so essentially I would just look for an Auto and start with a fresh build again..

But If he does not, I am thinking since I have one where I have invested a lot of money into already I'd just keep it forever and dump a couple more hundreds and swap to Auto..

As soon as I find a running 1g auto AWD, I'm buying it to take ALL the parts to put on my car. I want to make it look like it came from the factory with an auto.....engine harness to break pedal assembly and all.

5 spd is great and all....I dont mind driving it at all. My car has been a drag car that I drive on the street for years. Auto just seems like I can be consistently fast or even faster without worrying about breaking clutches and transmissions.
