Has anyone who has done the auto to manual swap in a turbo fwd &/or awd model been able to get the reverse lights and cruise control to work?

I have poring over the wiring diagrams looks like the reverse lights will be easy.

The cruise control looks like it may not be that hard as well. Looks like you disconnect a few plugs and it should work.

Any input would be appreciated.

I hade to go to the junk yard and got the reverse sensor and wire harness. I was able to find the wire to hook it up and they work fine. I don't know about the cruise control though I would like info on that as well. If you need to know how to hook up the wires to the reverse lights I will look at it later and let you know.

Sure I would like to know what you did. To see if what I am thinking is correct. Seems to me I only have to unplug one connector for the cruise but I have no clue where it is.

What your going to do is the neutral switch for the auto there will be a big red wire with a blue stripe and a big black wire with a white stripe. Now the wire harness to the back up sensor has two wires. The red and blue stripe wire will go to the the other red and blue stripe. Next you will connect the back wire to the plain red wire. That's it they should work if not check the sensor it might be bad.

Thanks I may have figured out a way to start the car with out jumping the neutral safety switch. Will have to see. I believe this is the main culprit as to why the cruise does not work.

I have been playing with them for the last hour and can not get them to work.

Well found I have a blown fuse. replaced it. But the still do not work so this now raises a question.

Do the reverse lights only work when the engine Is running? I thought they were on when the vehicle is in reverse and with the ignition on.

in the auto the cc ecu controls od, od light and od switch.

Yes I jumped the neutral safety switch. Tried testing the reverse lights but can not get them to work. I checked the bulbs they are good also replaced the reverse lights fuse.

If it requires the car to be running for the reverse lights to work than I will be SOL for a week or so as I do not have an OFH oh this engine at the time.

I am not sure if the car has to be running. Take the sensor off and check the bottom of it, it should be a metal ball it should a spring action. If it's not and if the little ball seems to be pushed in and it's not spring loaded then it's bad.

The car does not have to be running for the reverse lights to work. Unplug it and put a paper clip across the terminals, put the trans in reverse with the key on and the lights should come on. If they don't you have a wiring issue and need to check to see if you have power and ground at the sockets. If they do come on you have a bad switch.

The only thing I did cruise control related was plug in the switch on the clutch pedal assembly so the cruise turns off when you push the clutch in. The plug and wiring should be taped to the harness by the pedal along with the plug and wiring for the neutral safety switch.

I have an auto turbo to manual turbo fwd swap. I was told that the rear wiring harness needs to be changed. I did not do this swap, I inherited it from previous owner, but the CC does not work nor do the power mirrors... Reverse lights works. Anyways, there is a whole tech write up on here about the conversion. I'm going to be changing out the rear wiring harness as soon as I pick it from the junk tard after x-mas.

Yeah I have done that does your cruise work? I have tried jumping the reverse lights and Have got nothing. I am wondering if I have the correct wires.

Yes I checked the sensor. I had two problems a bad battery and a bad switch/sensor. Now I just have to get the car running and work on getting the Cruise Control operational.

im gonna bump this, but did you ever play with the cruise control and try to get it working? i took mine out because it wasnt working right and while i was doing a few other things i used the space, but now that spring is coming and road trips are coming - i want to put it back in.

Edit: IT WORKS!

After reading that - it made me think (realize?) that the cruise control is wired to work with the auto ecu, and not stand alone. So when i unplugged the auto TCU - i broke the connection from the cruise control cu and the vacuum pump/actuator.

SO i just went out side, plugged it back in - bolted the actuator back on (which i forgot to put in the garage and pulled out from under a foot of snow LOL) and without any problems at all - i have cruise again.

Now - while i would assume this would be true for all 4g6x based cars - this was in a 98 spyder 4g64 auto with a GSX/Manual swap. I also wired in a momentary switch from the starter relay in the car to a spot under the dash that i have to push each time i start the car (im ok with it - since its a spyder and my luck is garbage). Oh- im also on an Evo8 ecu and after ~5 miles of driving - i got no CEL

No sorry I have not had the time to mess with it. I have been dealing with a short that I found at the power antenna and that has been my main concern. I am going to start playing with that next week I have a few Ideas I need to try out and I need to order the solenoid to bell crank cable.
