i kinda like the idea of bein a manual poser, just wondered how the boot fits tho and if anyone had any pics if they've done it, this idea is better then spending $129 on a razo auto shifter...any response is appreciated, thanks

i have an auto, i dont like the auto shifter, i wanna remount my O/D button, and make the auto, look like a manual...wanted to see some pics of people who have done it, wanted some ideas how bout doing it, and maybe someone could find it in their hearts to tell me how to remount my O/D button ...their hows that? :D

There's a guy on here who did it in a 2g, it's somewhere in this forum(appearance). Havent seen a 1g done yet.

just buy a 2g manual console...they are out on ebay all the damn time.

not having a clutch is a dead giveaway :| i dont know why someone would want to do this, but buy a shift boot and put it over top your automagic shifter and let it there. its will look about as good as this idea being a good one. sorry, but let it alone. :notgood:

seriously why would you want to do that??? WTF my bro will make almost any automatic car stick for anywhere from 300 to 500 bucks. i have a 1g 2.0 n/t stick raced my friend who has a 2g auto with almost the same mods, his are a lil better, and i smoke him bad. you can have much more fun with a manual transmission. trust me i know!!!

yikes poser alert!!! One time a guy in a v6 grand am was rolling down a hill at me and I'm like dude you have an automatic! He yelled no, the v6 come in sticks too!! Turns out he was heading to my school and i peeked in his car and sure enough, poser! ROFL

Manual is funner, my daily driver is a manual, but its not nearly as fun driving a manual as it is to rape people like you with my automatic! :thumb: Its all in how its set up, never doubt the automatic until you know how its built :nono:

ok a stick and an automatic side by side at a light . light turns green both take off when the automatic shifts at 3 or 4k rpms and the stick keeps goin on to shift at a higher rpm then has the option to just power shift or double clutch which will get you to keep goin faster and pick up speed faster rather than droppin to llow rpms with an automatic. stick is better for evrything no matter what anyone says cause seriously what can you do with auto just floor it and hope the car can win the race for you.well u can also try to drop it with an auto but that only goes so far.....
LOL! :shhh: :D

I'm sorry but you are very misinformed. Automatics do not always shift at 3 or 4k. Mine shifts between 6500 and 7000 when i'm flooring it. The only reason that automatics are at a disadvantage in drag racing is the higher amount of drivetrain loss and possibly shift speed (depending on the other driver). These can both be lessened by adding a shift kit, end clutch kit, and torque converter.

Automatics also have a few advantages for drag racing. Since the throttle plate never closes during shifts the turbo stays spooled the whole time. Also, with a properly sized turbo and torque converter combination it would be possible to launch with full boost and maintain it the whole way down the track.

Please read up a bit more before bashing things you know nothing about.

thanks for the link, i read that one tho, his is a 2g ima 1g... :)

this is not a discussion about what is better...he simply wants the manual look because in my opinion as well, it looks better than a big stick with no boot. I doubt he will be telling people he is an automatic. Refer to defiants post, that is where I first saw the idea...I would never drive an automatic, but I suppose if I did, I would not want that pole sticking out of my console with a huge donkeydick at the end.

yeah!, thanks adore....i think...now i just need to know how to mount the O/D button somewhere else :thumb: , thanks for everyones help, and remember im not lazy...im just patient..later

Poor poor child. I really feel sorry for you being so misinformed. I promise you my auto shifts faster than you do, holds more boost while doing it, and launches with most boost than you do. Thanks Enki, I couldn't have said it better myself.

whoa, did he just say double clutch so you could go faster??? LOL fast and the furious much! google double clutch and you'll see it means you rev match if you don't have syncros in the tranny. But we do have syncros (as do all modern cars) so please try not to post really stupid things because you heard it in a movie. :notgood:

this is in my buddy caseys 97 eclipse its not all that great of a shot but its the only one i could find . for the longest time i thought it was manual til i actually payed attention to it

wow.... he's asking for help to be a poser.... whats the world comming too

Hate to throw more fuel on the fire, but I definitely agree.
But, this is where the new generation of kids doing stuff just for the look comes in...
If you want the manual look, the best advice I could give is switch to a manual.

Can anyone here read the red text right above where you typed your message? It clearly says "stay on topic". This guy did not ask your opinions on Manual vs. Automatic. Granted, he didn't explain himself very well, but he was asking how to add a boot so that his Auto looks like a Manual shifter.

Please do not post anymore Manual vs. Auto arguments or the thread will be closed.
