Hey i was wondering how much of the internal engine should i change in order to run about 15 psi?:talon:

Pistons and rods.

But there's no sense in not replacing the bearings, oil pump, water pump, all timing components, and water/oil plugs while you're down there... anything less than that is half-assed. It'll likely cost you more in terms of time and money to do the bottom end in stages; just get it all over with at once.

It's a matter of personal preference, really. I have JE's, but others are running Weisco's or Venolia's. They're all great quality pistons, but the JE's are known to "slap" a little more than the others.

...yeah, and wait until you no longer need them before they arrive :toobad:

...oh, and why exactly do you say he needs the long rods?

Meh. They're nice... I suppose, but the whole "long rod" kit concept is just a profit recouperation ploy by Howell. The "long rods" are the exact same rods from their stroker kit. Because the stroker kit is pretty expensive, and sales weren't what they expected, they decided to see if they could make back some of their money by selling these specially made rods in a "long rod kit." The fact that can help a little with torque was more of an after-thought than an intentional design aspect.

In any case, if you don't have two months to wait for Howell, I recommend buying from Concept Illusions or Exile Racing. I bought my rebuild kit from Concept Illusions and am thoroughly pleased. I even spent less money buying through them, than I would have buying throught Howell.

regardless of the original intentions they have been proven effective. hmmm? I was under the impression the stroker kit had standard length rods?

only 1 problem, you don't get total seal rings. although, that may not be of any importance to you. concept illusions has been good to me with a throttle body boring service, but the last time i purchased something through them i had to file a paypal claim, becuase after 30 days not only would they not respond to me they wouldnt respond to paypal, but paypal just took the money out of thier account and placed it back in mine, so all is fine. That was about the same time they where having the break ins too though so no hard feelings here.

Sorry for your bad luck...and who exactly wants total seal rings nowadays

LOL, I don't even have to prove that point. I can count on you to downgrade everything you dont own.

Alright now... play nice.

If the stroker kit used standard rods, the pistons would hit the bottoms of the cylinders and seize (unless you removed that back-stop material, in which case they would just fall out).

No more of this now, lets stick to the original topic. This thread should already be closed by virtue of the author's lack of searching... If no one has anything new to contribute, consider it locked.

Sorry not in the best mood today. back on topic. I was only going from afx performance (howell) comments in 2gnt he stated they where standard rods in the 2.2 stroker. Although standard for the stroked 2.2 would be longer that standard for the 2.0 which would confirm your previous statement earlier about overstock? that was a question really, because I am not familiar with stroker motors at all.

I can get you the number to talk to robert for all oem parts needed like timing components, oil and water pumps, idler pulleys, tensioner ect. Claim your from 2gnt and want the club discount. 15% over cost its cheaper than parts dinosaur and its OEM parts.

While I am not that versed in the turbo 420a, I would agree with a minimun internal of pistons and rods. And not to make this into any company bashing thread but, make no mistake, CI runs hot and cold. I have talked to Shaun(sp?) multiple times and found him to be a relatively nice and helpful guy. Unfortunately, he cannot do everything and is dependant on his help. I have had good dealings and bad dealings with his company (as have others). Unfortunately, the bad has been relatively bad. If you are willing to roll the dice, then I would def. go with CI. If he comes through it is a good quick deal. If not, well they're your dice.
