so i'm wanting to make my 1g eclipse a non-turbo. it's a gst, btw. what all would be required? computer, wiring harness, new exhaust manifold, etc.?

anybody have a specific list? my teacher's wanting to make it into a hornet car or whatever and won't buy it unless he knows he can make it into a non-turbo LOL

Remove turbo, or wire Waste gate open.... Feel the pathetic power....

Otherwise, to do it correctly it will be very pricey to make less power. The turboed car has a lower compression ratio than the N/A car. So you will need to replace the pistons. You will need a different intake manifold. You will need a different exhuast manifold. You will need a different ECU. Smaller injectors... etc... etc... etc... Cheaper to buy a N/A car and get free toaster with it than to take turboed and turn it N/A ... sorry N/A guys had to dig alittle :)

I wonder what is his logic of turning turbo to non turbo. Perhaps the car is too fast for him? If so I would suggesting trading in for a Geo Metro. Sorry about my .02 cents.

well, if you read it instead of jumping the gun, you would have noticed that i said he's wanting to make it into a hornet racer or one alike... meaning you can't have a turbo.

anyways, if i were to "Remove turbo, or wire Waste gate open" would it run like complete crap?

You have to realize that the turbo engine has lower compression than the N/A engine as such you won't make the same kind of power [without the turbo on the turbo'd car] as you could with the N/A. Its just not worth it in my oppinion. You would need to rebuild the engine to raise the compression and do alot of work when you could save money and just buy the N/A car cheaper than the turbo car to start with.

i'm aware of the compression difference. so i'm going to go ahead and scratch this idea then..

no idea. how hard would a whole engine swap be? (turbo to non) like, sell the 4g63t on ebay or wherever and put a non-turbo in. i would imagine all the mounting is the same, correct? would it be worth it?
