I drive a 97 gst, with a brand new 6 bolt swap in it as of last weekend, just drove the car home from the shop last night, roughly 20mi. so i pulled into my driveway and everything seamed to be going perfectly, started driving down my driveway and half way down i went to shift and i have no gears!!! i can move the shifter all around and it wont "catch" into any of the gears. just sits there in neutral, what should i all check?!

Thanks much

First things first look for the simple and easy then move to the not so fun stuff. Check the master cylinder and make sure there is fluid in the reservoir. Next check the slave cylinder will have to get under the front end to see this have a friend push in the clutch while you watch. But from what you have described, your shifter just floats around no firm feeling or anything, grind ect. I know you said it was perfect just trying to see if there are any other symptoms. You said you drove it 20 miles from the shop afetr motor swap so hopefully, they forgot to tighten the brackets that hold on your shift cables to the tranny that sounds more accurate to the problem as long as you have clutch pressure ect.! this is just a possible solution, hope fully they forgot to tighetn them down but if thats the case I would be calling a shop up and asking what the heck man! Let us know how your check over goes

I would check to make sure the cables didn't pop off on the tranny side. It's very possible they forgot to install cotter pins to prevent that from happening. Fluid level wouldn't matter for finding a gear, you wouldn't be able to shift gears and you would be grinding trying to since the clutch isn't' disengaging.

Yeah +1 on checking the cables. My buddy flipped out when the same thing happened to his 1g so we checked and i found that he forgot to put the cotter pins back on his shifter cables. LOL

I had the same problem in my 91 talon it was great then all of a sudden i had no gears....pull the console out and check the shift cables that run to the shifter and all the lock clips etc...then move ## way to the tranny and check there..after that check all ## fluids to ya master reservoir and check ya slave cylinder..if all that checks out i would start thinking about it being a throw out bearinor pressure plate...How is the pedal pressure on ## clutch?

cotter pins are in. all the shift cables move, even the ones on the tranny ill check tomorrow the other things. thanks ill let you know whats going on, and i got a new problem now.... car was running and i rev'd it twice and when the RMP's came back down it shut off. engine turns over fine and fast but wont start as if there is no spark?

Check the MPI fuse on the positive battery cable.Pull out the plugs to see if you are getting spark, pull the fuel rail to see if you are getting fuel, if you have both of them do a compression test. No spark I would pull the ECU and make sure the caps are good first then move onto testing the ignition components. You can check the fuel relay next to the ecu also while you pull it out there is a quick test you can do to make sure it is working. Then test your coil packs, cam angle sensor. Start with that stuff and let us know more as you start testing. That sucks about the tranny just seems very weird that it was fine and then nothing usually if you are driving and the tranny gives out it will be stuck in whatever gear you are in and you have none so it might be the shifting fork inside the tranny that broke.

What does your pedal feel like? My slave cylinder recently locked up in the fully extended (disengaged) position and absolutely will not budge. The pedal is impossibly stiff, but won't come all the way back up, acting like it's worn. But that shouldn't be the case, it was fine just before this. So here we sit without the ability to get the clutch to reengage. New master, slave, and braided line are waiting to be put on. Hope your solution is as simple, if not more so.
