In the near feuture I will be doing some maintenance on my car and just want to make shure im on the right track and that im not forgetting anything. I also do want to appoligise if i miss spell or have bad grammer I have been L.D. seince 5th grade. I will re-read befor i post to get it as good as i can! :D

I will be mainly making all of my suspencion as good or better than factory. I will be doing all of the bushing, some are dry rotted. I will do all of them just to be safe. Shuld i go with poly bushing or rubber. I will be getting into autocross in august so im kinda leaning tward poly bushings. Also my passenger upper controll arm is starting to split around the welded part. But im replacing all the controll arms upper and lower. I am getting new coilovers, probably tokico illuminas. How good are these? I am also getting all new turbo pipping rubber connecters. (cant think of what they are called. not the pipping just the connectors.)

Things that are done are plugs and wires, the timing belt looks new from previous owner. replaced fuel filter due to it was leaking when i got it. I replaced the clutch and rear main seal. I dont think im missing anything

I am a noob with DSMs but i am doing everything myself to learn about my car befor i start upgrading it. Any help will be greatly appreciated :thumb:

If you are going to stick around I'd recommend using Mozilla Firefox as your web browser for the spell check.

The rubber pieces you are thinking of are actually silicone and they are something you shouldn't cheap out on. They are also called couplers.

The piping is also called intercooler piping. As for the coilovers I'm not sure, you could always check user reviews if you type in the name of the product and dsmtuners review, same goes for a lot of products.

What exactly is your question bud?

Either way, you are on the right track. Bad bushings can really take its toll not only on the original bushing location, but a lot of other parts take abnormal shock that they would normally not recieve. A solid platform is a must in my opinion in a high performace car.

Ask us a little more detailed questions. Your post was more of you sharing what you have done so far. :thumb:

I guess i dont realy have a question I just want to make shure im in the right track, and that their isnt anything im missing. I have done a good bit of maintenance but I am a noob with DSMs but i love them and dont want to get stuck anywhere.

Is their a list of maintenance thing I can look at to go off of?

You should find a maintenance manual and compare your mileage to what maintenance is required in the maintenance manuals for that specific mileage. You won't be able to finish it all but you can prioritize your options. Get rid of the rust and repair all your split support pieces and you are on your way...

ok I will try to find one. Also i have a 95 gsx motor that i am rebuilding to have a fresh motor. I have a 98 gst, I think the only thing that is diffrent is the cam sensor right? Is their any other diffrences between the two. I know that I shuld go 6 bolt but i got it for 300 bucks. The guy said it had 99k on it and he swapped for a 6 bolt and just didnt want it.

Is this the right manual?

You have to tell what are your plans for your car.
Is this going to be your DD.
Or is it only for Fun. (Race).

If It's going to be your DD,... I would go with soft Bushings.
If it's going to be for Fun.. I would go with stiff ones.

And for Maintenance,
Here is the Upgrade Path.

It is to upgrade, but it tells you what Maintenance you have to do.

You can Down Load the Manual from Here.

I have looked at this befor and I cant find where it tells me any maintenance, or things to look at.

LOL I didnt read the paragraphs. (I am horible a reading things on a computer)

But yea i have dont a good part of those so I guess I am on the right track. I will be picking up a repair manual soone. But about the 95 motor in a 98? What is the diffrence or things that I need to change to have it bolt right in?

Never mind about the motors I have found it with more research. Sorry I didnt do enough looking.

But I do have a new question now. What does it mean when they say to switch the plugs? Is that just switching the wires? Can i just switch cams and use 97-99 cams instead?
Sorry I guess I had 3 more questions.

Before swapping in the 1995 engine, pull the intake cam and replace it with that from the 1998 (assuming you have it; otherwise any 1997-1999 intake cam will work or you can drill and tap your 1995 intake cam to accept the 97-99 CAS). You reduce the amount of headache tremendously when you utilize the same engine electronics that came in the car -- in this case, the CAS.

To answer your other question(s), "switching the plugs" refers to swapping the wire positions at the coil.

Check this out for some insight into what should be involved in actual maintenance: http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/maintenance-repairs/364640-maintenance-list.html#post152145218.

thanks alot 19eclipse90. That kind of maintenance list is what I wanted. I will read it and re read it and do everything first befor I get into the performance i want to do. Again thanks to all that helped!

I did read somewhere that I have to sodder in the connecter for the C.A.S plug. can someone verrify this for me. I was under the impression that I just need to swap the intake cam/
