Ever since I got my car September 2003, I haven't done a major maintenance on it yet. So I decided that I really do need to check every thing and make sure what I need to do the maintenance for everything. I have 91k miles so I think I gotta do my timing belt and water pump soon, right? What else do I need to do (besides oil change of course!)?

You usually want to change the timing belt after 60k miles. You usually want to change the stock thermostat after awhile. It doesnt stay accurate enough after awhile. Check and replace vacuum lines. Do a boost leak test and a compression test. Change your oil. If you change your timing belt, that would be the time to replace you water pump.

The above post is great advice. Just don't forget to also replace the idlers, tensioners and balance shaft belt when performing the timing belt service. A new set of plugs and wires would also be a great idea as would an OEM PCV valve and fuel filter.

Good luck!

If your timing belt wasn't replace in the last 60,000 miles, then yes change your timing belt. If you don't know the last time it was change it wouldn't be a bad idea to change it. And yes, since you are there you should do the water pump.

I would just perform all maintance, I would have done when first purchasing the car. All oils, coolant, and other fuids. Replace damage lines. I would also change all the filter oil filter, fuel filter, air filter(or at least clean it).

Hopes this helps, Stay boostin

it would also be a goo idea to cah all the filters in the car(air, fuel, oil). then if you have not chage the plugs, plugwires, and PCV valve. these are all thing good to chage during matenince. And while You have the timing belot off i would check and replace as need the cam and crankshaft seals.

I don't know if some of you haven't read my other post, but I was misfiring and boosted hella. Something under the hood messed up and there's a strange ticking noise. How likely could that be the timing belt?

Your timing could have jumped. Did you do a compression test?

Nah, I haven't done the test yet, I'm gunna try to do it within the next couple days. So if the timing jumped, it would really cause that ticking noise? The sound does seem like it's coming from that area.

I can tell your really worried about your timing belt (from your other post) so you might as well take 6 minutes to go check it out. This is what it should look like...

Two questions:

1) If the timing was off, what would that look like?

2) When I do replace my timing belt, is there any aftermarket ones I that I could fit in my car? I know GReddy makes one for Evos, but what about Eclipse?

Check out the picture. Look at the timing marks, see how they line up with eachother at the same level? They should also be at the same level as the top of the cylinder head. If the timing belt had jumped, the timing belt marks would not match up with eachother (I.E. one mark would be level with the top of the cylinder head, while the other cam gears mark would sit one or more marks below/above it).

Stock replacement Mitsubishi timing belt. The only way to go.
