Maintenance Suggestions

Just bought my 92' Plymouth Laser AWD Turbo. It's completely stock and unmolested and before doing my modifications i want to make sure she runs proper now and in time with mods. I want to do a full maintenance but have got different suggestions from everyone and the site's maintenance is to vague for my likings. I'm on a budget but if it's a necessity then it don't matter. I just want to know what to replace that is a MUST and not just a "Why not" maintenance unless it only cost only like 50$. Thanks

If you don't know when the timing belt was done last, then replace it. You should also do the,water pump and tensioner and might want to to a balance shaft eliminator kit at that time. Alot of times it's that pesky balance shaft belt that breaks first and takes out your timing belt on these motors. The timing belt and it's components are critical to keep your engine alive, so make them a priority. As for what to use, oem is reliable. Price it out, save your money, and get it if you need it. After that change all the fluids. Plan on changing the fuel filter, and get some new plugs and wires and an air filter as well. That's the best things to look at first and they will pay off in the long run. These are the things I would do if I were in your shoes. Hope it helps. Good luck

you would want the timming belt,tensiner,water pump all replaced.
the ballance shaft eleminator kit is great to do but you have to pull the motor to do it
but it will save you money in the long run.

The best thing to do to any new car is to get an oil analysis before you change the oil for the first time. It will not only let you know how good of care the previous owner took of your car, but it will also warn you if you have bearing material in your oil, along with water and gas. It's $22.50 and definitely worth it.
