I have seen the oil drain plug on ebay a couple times, but it was "JDM" (LOL) so the wanted like $30 for it.

Havent seen any on there in a while though....

Sorry I couldnt be more help:thumb:

I remember seeing an oil plug that was magnetic but I cant remember where to get it. Has anyone ever tried one? Or where to get one?

That's not a bad idea, I didn't know they existed for our cars. I'll be picking up both the tranny and oil pan drain plugs. :thumb:

I searched. No post says the actual size. Im about to break in my engine so I wanna catch the shavings. thanks.

Your local auto parts store should be able to look it up for you. Or bring in the old one and have them match it up.

If my computer at work is right, it's M14x1.5. I just bought one, but haven't gotten around to an oil change yet.

ok, this may seemed ghetto, but about a year ago, I wanted a magnetic plug too. I couldn't find one, so I bought a regular one and superglued a magnet to the tip of it. OK, well 4 oil changes later it is still there and is working perfectly.

Very ghetto, I know, but it works.:thumb:

I got one off ebay for 10 bucks shipped. That thing has no problems picking up my stack of wrenches(12) very powerfull I have to say.

I'd rather hear it was epoxied rather than super-glued, but it won't really hurt anything if it comes adrift down there.
Magnets are also made for the oil filter. The only drawback to any of these devices is that once an engine gets to the point that there's pieces that are going to get snagged by a magnet, it's already well on the way to being dead.

very true. my old plymouth van had a magnet in the tranny pan, set onto a dimple on the bottom. it was super strong and i had to pry the hell out of it to get it off. i guess you can just sit the magnet down in the pan and drop pan to check it every few oil changes? but i would have stuck the magnet to the OUTSIDE of the bolt. still magnetized, and it wouldnt get sucked up into the oil tube. either way, i agree, if you see stuff stuck to the magnet in there, its time for rebuild.
