My MAF was going so I just wen and ordered a GM 3" MAF and the MAFT from OnGreenPreformance.com So I got it all installed correctly and the car did start. Note I have not tuned or dialed it in yet. Now for the problems.... When I start the car it sounds like a Scoobaru with an exhaust on it. Also upon start the red led does not come on? only the green one any ideas?

Those are evo 560cc injectors I have a set myself. As for your issues you REALLY need to listen to what these guys are saying about logging software and a wideband. Im currently working on getting my tune with my maft correct and I can tell you without my wideband and evo scan I would be lost. One switch or knob adjusted the wrong way can result in a car running pig rich or really lean so before you mess your engine up get a logger and a wideband. Not only are they great tuning tools but when things begin to mess up they make A+ diagnostic tools. :thumb:

Yep those are the evos, dont go turning boost up without a tuning device wideband, and some type of way to tune. Then wait until you do get those i have seen a few threads with mods but, they dont have the basic tuning devices needed to run the upgrades they have.

So far this is what I now have done to the car:
ACT 2600 clutch
True 3" turbo back Magnaflow exhaust with high flow cat
Gm MAF + MAFT
Walboro 255 lph pump
Evo 8 560 cc injectors
Aftermarket Boost, Volts, Oil psi, Temp, AFR gauge
Apexi SAFC

And that's it. I changing the vacuum lines and getting it to run right now. Also taking a trip to Harry's U-Pull-it tomorrow for a new valve cover, spark plug cover, sending unit and whatever else I may stumble upon. Thanks for the info

Good to hear you figured it out, I thought it sounded like a missfire (unplugged injector). You should go into the classifieds and get yourself a logger as soon as the funds are available, Then you will be on your way. You have got some decent mods to get some power, But no way to see what is being changed.

You can pick up a logger with or without MMCd on it for about $50 in the classifieds, MMCd is free on the web.

Question one.... What is a mmcd?

Question two.... Where can i get injector cups? They are all cracked

Is a handheld halo any good? I have people telling me get a logger get a dsmlink. Should I just get a logger so I can read everything or a dsmlink? And the cups are at the bottom of the fuel injector. Holds it into the motor

DSMLink is a tuning device in itself. Once you have DSMlink there is really no use for logging as it logs and tunes all at the same time. You can even integrate a wideband into DSMlink so that there is no need to purchase a $60 gauge. The only downside is that DSMlink ranges from $400 - $600 new.

Getting a Logger is a cheap and simple way to see what's going on with your car in real time. You plug it into your Data port and depending, you will be displayed knock, temps, all that jazz.

Do a bit of research on both, it's readily available in the search function.

Well what do you guys /gals think would be better? I'm not trying to turn it into a race car, I'm not shooting for big HP. Just wanted a few small upgrades to raise the number a little. Should I just get the logger for now and tune some other way or just go all out with the DSMLINK?

Thanks for the quick responses!

That has been my battle for a while now and I finally settled on a tuning setup that fits my needs and budget.

There is DSMlink which is known to be popular and well supported.

You can run a Standalone management system such as AEM.

The downside with the above two are they are very expensive and for us guys who are looking to stay under 400HP, we'll never use them to their full degree. The Cheapest version of DSMLink, new.. is $400.

You can then look into cheaper solutions, but they are often shunned as bandaids. These would include, but are not limited to : MAFT, SAFC, Ostrich, and Chip Burning.

A MAFT will allow you to dial in numbers and also upgrade to a GM MAF. This Also allows you to vent your BOV to the atmosphere. A SAFC is a way to trick the ECU into thinking that you have more or less air than what you're actually bringing in by intercepting the signal from the MAF before it gets to the ECU. In other words, if you're running too lean on a stock setup, you simply make the SAFC tell the ECU that the MAF isn't reading enough air and the ECU will compensate on the false reading.

A lot of times, people will run a MAFT and a SAFC in unison with a Wideband to monitor AFRs. They can then run bigger injectors and accommodate for the extra fuel, thus resulting in higher HP output. This setup usually runs a bit over $250 and has moderate support from other users.

Ostrich is the route I'm going. It's basically a replacement for the EPROM chip in EPROM ECU's. It has a ribbon/plug that plugs into the spot your EPROM chip usually would and allow you to upload a tune to the Ostrich unit that your ECU then reads and uses. What's even better is you can unplug the Unit at any time and take it with you... so that means 1: No one can steal your car cause it's basically like you're carrying your ECU. 2: You can take the unit indoors to a desktop and play with tunes and such without having to sit around with a laptop in the sun if it's hot out, or in the cold in the winter. This setup can be had for about $170 but comes with much less support.

Just do a bit of research.

Sorry if I've been asking stupid or beaten-to-death questions. Between 2 jobs, college, working on the car and being busy I don't have much time to do research so I just ask. I'm not looking into big money stand alones, or a dsmlink because I just can't afford it. Ostrich sounds very interesting though. Right now I'm looking into a pocket logger right now.

Logging is a great first step. It allows you to see what's going on internally without having to blindly assume what's happening. Do that first and then go from there.

Once I experiment a bit with Ostrich, I'll be sure to make a post on it and my experiences with it.

get a logger and a wideband thats all you need for now if your going to turn the boost up. or just drive like a normal car without banging on it and youll be fine.

a logger, maft, and safc is a good way to start tuning. actually a buddy of mine ran that with an eprom chip and got 560hp. of course he had a built long block and a 50 trim, but you can get good power without an expensive standalone.

I have the MAFT and the Super AFC already. Next is a logger and a wideband. Thanks for all the info and not bashing on me because i'm slow.

I'm getting a wideband and logger soon. Does anyone know which knob is for the injector sizes on the MAFT?

It's the one at the far left of the bank of 4 labeled "BASE".
