so i just finished up the bottom end with fresh bearings oil clearence was good torq good. anyways i was driving around my area not going over 3k.. i came to a red light when all of the sudden i put it in nuteral and it dies??? it wont turn over!!! we rocked it back and forth mabe trying to free it up.. took the plugs out tryed turning it over again and nothing... i just dont understand what the hell is going on.. there was no sound, no warning, on any mechanical failier. temp acording to loger 195. (timing was set by dealer). no knock.. can someone help trouble shoot??

it wont even turn over the engine is completly siezed up we tryed push starting it and nothing. it didnt even turn over or anything the tires just skid.. i cheked the timing belt still in one piece pulled the plugs to check if it was hydro locked dry as a bone. i just dont uderstand there was no wierd sound at all just went to idle and stalled out. if i broke something wouldent i have heard something i mean i had the windows down no music hardly no traffic????

Well somthing seazed. I would start at the top and check the cam jernals, If they are clean pull the pan and check the lower end, If that checks ok then you seazed a piston in the cylinder. One more check the oil pump if it locks it will bring things to a quick hault.

Good luck that does not sound like fun :toobad:

Drain the oil and check for metal. Pull the pan and have a look see at the bottom end bearings. If it was the top end it woulld have boke loose while trying to push it. I would say the bottom end went on you.

If the tires skid and you cant get it out of gear I might think that it is tranny/clutch related.

You say you get nothing when you try and turn the car over.....Seems electrical to me, Pull the ecu and see what it looks like.

First off, take the drivers side tire off and see if you can turn the crank by hand(with an extention and a ratchet). If it doesnt turn then pull your oil pan and check everything on the bottomend. If it does turn then look to your starter. Take it off and take it to Autozone or Advanced Auto and have them test it. If its bad, replace it and try that one on the car. If its good, then its mechanical and something was missed when you assembled the block. The ECU should be one of the last things to check into.

its not the ecm i just replaced it also when i hit the started you can hear it engauge but wont turn the motor.. its nothing electrical to my guess completly mechanical... i was in the process of getting a new motor anyways so ill dig into it when i have it out.

does anyone know of any resectable dsm shops that are in the orlando area??

Well, now that we know its not an electrical issue......Stick a 1/2 drive extension in the crank pulley and see if you can rotate it.

same thing happened to me a few days ago, wouldn't turn over, the starter would just click.. we tried push starting it but it seemed like the engine was siezed and it was hard to turn over.. it was actoually two totally unrelated problems that decided to happen at the exact same time (gotta love dsm's) but it was an electrical issue, we redid all the grounds and put on new terminals and it cranked over just fine, and there was a issue with the clutch that we fixed.

92awddsm he never said anything about not coming out of gear, however from this statement I assumed he couldn't.

He said he put it in neutral at the light. Then he tried push starting it which means he would have had to put it in gear, press the clutch to release it, get it rolling, and then release the clutch for it to engage. At that point, the tires skid. Think about it, if he can press the clutch and it releases and the car rolls freely, how would the problem be in the tranny. I think your reading comprehension skills need a little attention.

why dont you stop guessing and do some checking like everyone has said? at leat drain the oil and see if there metal in it or not

You got some good advice.....get the 1/2" extension on a rachet and put it in the crank dampner hole and try to crank it over by hand. I would pull out all 4 spark plugs first.....that will eliminate a locked cylinder because of coolent getting in. Report back after doing this.
