MAF Translator Which version do I need?

I have a 2g car but I am swapping 1g (6 bolt) into it. Am I suppose to get a maf translator for 1g or 2g? How about the gm mas? Which is better 3" or 3.5"? Appreciate your help.

Unless your running a fairly large turbo, your stock air meter is more accurate than the GM unit.

Why exactly do you need a gm mas?
The stock 2g MAS will be good enough for around 400hp.

But, I guess that wasnt the point of this thread.

If you must get one, get the 3" version.
And you'll need to get a Maf-T for a 2g


Edit:
I just read your post again, and I think you might be confused about the differences between a GM maf and a DSM maf. You dont need to order a translator with a 2g mas, with a 6 bolt swap your still going to be using the same intake piping. The only reason you'd order a maf translator is if you were running a GM unit.

I want to vent my bov into atmosphere. I also heard that it is much easier to tune. So let me get this straight.
I have a 2g mas and I don't need a gm mas.
But, I do need the translator to vent into atmosphere and ease of tuning.
or
I don't need the translator period because of the 2g mas.
Please help.

Ok..

So your going to need to buy a Translator (for a 2g) and a 3" GM MAS.

Its going to cost you around $250 to vent your BOV.. it is really worth it?
Plus your going to need to hack your UICP in order to make room for the MAF, just something to think about.

dude, just search for your answers some more, this question has been answered like a million times....

the maf tells the engine how much air is passing by it, if you vent your bov after the maf has counted the air your venting, there is NO way to tune for that... the maft can ONLY be used if you have a gm maf, and you can only vent if you put the maf AFTER the bov... that way its not counting air that will not be going in the engine and screwing things up...

I always hears the 2g maf is good for 400hp. How about the 1g?

Venting is something I would love to do with my car but it just doesnt seem practical. Im sure if you buy an aftermarket intake and uicp your car will sound great.

He has 2 G but he's gonna awap the motor with 1G, so he wanted to know what version of

MAFT for his motor swapped 2G.

Reason why he wanted MAFT and GM MAS are 1. BOV (vent) 2.Feul Tune.

I think, He did some search already but couldn't find the answer for motor

swapped case like his.

He might have to spend $250 and hack UICP, He might already knows that.

Some people think Vent BOV and simple fuel tune for $250 is too much

some people think don't. Simple SAFC is $250 also.

He might know that already and with same $250 he chose MAFT and GM MAS.

It's just his choice, don;t be Harsh

the maft doesnt just allow you to vent.it also has fuel tuning.so its not 250 bucks just to vent.you can compensate for bigger injectors,add fuel for nitrous,etc..

I knew how much it will cost me and where the bov suppose to go and all that.
My main concern was the wiring of the maf translator and the compantibility of the gm mas. I didn't think that my 2g mas will work with 2g maf or 1g maf.

The translator for the 1G and 2G is the same device. The only difference is the the connector used to plug into the vehicle's harness and the DIP switch settings used which are explained in the instructions (which is also available online here).

You don't seem to be the kind who wants to hear my personal opinion of the translator so I'll keep that thought to myself, though from people i know who use the MAFTPro, they love it, so I can only assume that the Translator Gen2 is much better than the original one.

I had prior experience with GEN 1 translator. I didn't like that much!
