I have a 91 TSI AWD 5speed. I just bought a pocket logger and I am wanting to upgrade my MAF or MAS. I have the 1g setup with a cut can. I have a Big 16g, walbro 255, fpr.
I was wondering if anyone could help me find out which is a better setup and what all parts and accessories I will need to make it work.
GM with MAF/T or 2g MAF
I am already ordering a set of FIC 650 injectors.
Which set up is better? What all am I going to need for each?
Your help would be very much appreciated in this matter.

Depends on your goals. I hear that the 2g maf is good for 450hp!!! Im using that setup. You would need a safc to tune with. U could get a maft to vent just leave the setting to zero and tune with the safc!!!
The 2g maf is cheaper on the wallet two!

Well, the maft setup will help you compensate for those bigger injector that you are getting. The maft setup will run you more money, but will out flow the 2g mas. Also Maft Blowthru you won't have to recuirculate your Blow off valve. If you decide to go eith the 2g mas I have one laying around that I could sell you. Let me know.

With the maft setup so i have to have a dsmlink? I put the injector order on hold till I figure out what I am going to do. I have been told that I can run a 2g with injectors and a safc. I don't know what all I would need for a maft setup.

95undrpsi- so is this the only way I can vent my bov to the atmosphere?

No you dont have to have a dsmlink to run a maft.
you can run a 2g mass with injectors and AFC in a 1g just fine.

MAFT is the proper way to vent the bov.

So with the maft I will need:
gm maf 3"
maf translator
and... is this correct?
and SAFC?

If you want to vent your BOV - GM MAF/MAFT
If you don't want to vent your BOV - 2G MAS

I'd take the 2G MAS over the MAFT combo any day.

^^^ and a logger

With a 2G MAS, you'll need a SAFC and logger. It ends up being cheaper too.

If you don't want to buy a MAFT and SAFC, buy the new MAFT GEN II, it has more settings that the SAFC, however I don't know that many people running it. Do a search for MAFT GEN II and you'll find the threads.

Cost is negligible between the two.

Maf translator - $150
GM maf - $50

Cost $200

SAFC - $150
2g mas - $50

Cost $200

If you read the instructions, the maft is fairly easy to get your base settings, each car requires a little fine tuning to get optimal settings, but this is true of the 2g mas/afc setup as well. Realistically, you need to evaluate your goals, the 2g will be more accurate(to moderate hp levels, 400+/-hp) and easier to tune with, the MAFT/maf will allow you to vent atmospheric and and you won't need to upgrade again till(if) you get well past the 600hp range...
