Toronto,
Hi
I have two ECU's. The engine runs with both. From most of the threads I have read, which ECU you run doesn't seem to matter, but I'm asking anyways. Which one is better or are they the same and why? A came with the JDM engine (Silver Top from an automatic) and B is the original ECU that came with my 97 Talon TSi AWD.

Thanks for your help.

First one looks like EPROM ECU, open them up and compare them to these pictures keep the one with EPROM chip.

ecu's for the 2gs doest matter if its auto or not. Autos have a TCU for the trans, the ECU does nothing with the trans. You can use both, but I'd use the Eprom one as its ready for a socket service from dsmlink.

yeah no question about it, Eprom, now shoot for dsmlink :thumb:

Is there anything I need to do before I can run DSM link or do i just plug it in and I'm good to go?

Cheers,
lz

You need to send the ECU away to get the stock EPROM removed and a socket put in place for the new programmed EPROM chip. You can do this when you order DSMlink. Just tell them you need the socketing service.
