I've been reading about how some 2g owners have been taking out there t-25's and putting in 14b's. And I was wondering ,Are the 14b's better and are'nt they smaller because they came from the 1G. So why are 2g owners swapping them out? I know this is a stupid question and I know it's going to have a very simple answer but it's been bugging me.:D

I agree with the ^^^^above , get a 16g if the turbo is to swapped out. I have an Audi 1.8t also. The turbo is teeny-tiny. The audi will do nothing but spin the front tires with the control off. Get it into second of third and the turbo is just not there as much. The car will pull 5th gear boost easy beacause of the tiny turbo. The 16g talon will flat destroy the audi on acceleration. From 50-100mph, it would be a joke. The Audi is a B6 with the better motor. The talon is beast compared. I had a 14b on mine when I bought it 9yrs. ago. I am in the car business and when I called my turbo supplier, she told me of the 16g on sale that would bolt right up. Told me all the hot dsm's do it. It was my wifes car then. So..years later, now the talon can run on 19psi and my logging is fine. Same turbo, still tight. The Audi would never withstand this on a basicly stock fuel system. Tres....

if you guys are commenting on me, I'm not buying a turbo, my car does not have a stock t25 I'm sure of, I'm just trying to find out what I have. I'm pretty sure its a 14b, just haven't had the time to take a pic. I just want advice on what I posted earlier.

here's a few pics of my turbo if anyone could chime in and tell me what I got.
there is a four in front of the 9 in the first pic

what would be a safe boost level to keep it at? I would assume 14-16psi but i wanted to make sure. it doesn't have any supporting mods because the person who sold it to me took them off i guess but everything looks stock.
also wanted to make sure that the 16g won't hurt the car without mods

14 lbs is the most I would ever go on a car with zero mods. Fix the internal wastegate, looks like it came off the pin. That should keep the boost close to stock. That turbo is enough to blow your motor by accident ;)

well damn! happy I posted the pics then. LOL can anyone tell if it's an ebay or the real deal? The guy I bought it from said it was just rebuilt if that makes a difference.

It is hard to tell when it is on the car but the wastegate actuator screams ebay turbo.

Even then the identifiers say otherwise so I would suggest this is a legit 16g with an ebay wategate actuator and perhaps other parts. Not all the parts on an ebay16g are terrible so who knows what is really inside of that turbo if it was just rebuilt. Run it and see where it gets you.

fix what you gotta fix and T-25 all the way in my opinion, honestly i was never a big fan of 14b turbos, the way i see it they are good for break-in purposes only.

A T25 will blow almost immediately if it's seeing boost pressures in excess of 15psi on a regular basis because of the load on the thrust plate due to excessive shaft speeds. The only way a T25 can be made into a durable turbo is to drop the extra funds on a 360* thrust plate, then hope for the best.

A 14B uses the exact same center housing (bearings and all) as turbos such as the 20G and FP Red, which have made over 600whp.

Which one's more durable?

besides I stated earlier that that's the turbo that came with the car. I'm not buying another one. I'm was trying to figure out what it was and how to make it work on an otherwise stock car.
