MAF sensor/Ignition problem

Quick question, could I run a 1G turbo MAF on my non turbo? I have the pigtail, because I already had to splice in my old pigtail to run my regular n/a MAF, and I just taped in the reset wire for the turbo setup to the side, because I knew I'd need it someday. My n/a MAF is 20+ years old, and sat un-used for 12 years of its life...needless to say, I think it's giving me my CEL, and the wires on it look pretty crusty. Also, has anyone ever heard of an engine tick that was actually a misfire under 3k rpm? Thanks!

My car had what you are discribing in the end and turned out to be a burnt valve. (Due to running way lean from fried ecu) But hopefully that isn't the case!

Yes it's pretty standard..It's called lifter tick..Dont worry about it.

Yeah, I put 3g revised lifters in it...ts not lifter tick, thats for sure. I'm pretty positive its my coil pack, because its throwing a code and making my CEL come on, but after I accelerate past 3k, the CEL goes away and so does the noise, and if I mess with the spark plug wires, it goes away sometimes, I just wasn't sure if it was possible for a coil pack to fail like that.
