someone please school me on this. I have a 92 TSI awd. Seems to me it has none... can I upgrade to 2g stuff? like going to the 4 bolt rear, does it have LSD? And what about the front, does that mean spliting the tranny open to do this. and what about the center deff??? heard something about welding this up but would rather get the right stuff for the job. LMK

You will have to take the tranny out and apart to put a front LSD in It. I am in the process of doing this in my 2g spyder

Open ## drivers door and look for a orange sticker. If it is factory equipped with a rear LSD it will be that orange sticker. The center diff is a viscous coupling limited slip. All Awful dsms have that. A front LSD is expensive, around a grand for a new unit. A center clutch type LSD is closer to 1400. There is a LSD insert you can get. I will be looking into that myself. The only 2g part that will interchange is the center VC that's it. 93-94 dsm rear ends are the 4 bolt rears. 2gs don't have the rear axles like the 1gs there's are splined to the hub like the front axles. A 4 bolt with axles and cups can be had for around 350 bucks. I have one sitting around for almost a year...

hmm this is all good to know, I'll check the sticker tomorrow, I know the 4 bolts the way to go for more power purpose in the long run. I just really want to car to slide better too. doesnt seem to kick the back like I want and I can feel the power go from side to side in the front, "in the rain", ill do more digging on this myself too

You won't ever get these cars to just kick the back end out, LSD or not. Not saying they don't get sideways but it wont feel like it's RWD. The car more just "pulls you sideways" if you know what I mean. Everything about the drivetrain works against it. Like Chris said all AWDs have a viscous lsd center diff. That is the biggest thing working against it. If you want sideways the best thing I could say is LSD rear and open front diff, loads of power, and crappy tires . It's kind of scary the first time it does go really sideways too. Nothing like RWD haha. Make sure that you have a stout drivetrain (built trans, clutch, so on.) I used to leave work sideways every day when I have my hx40 powered 1g

These cars aren't really meant for that type of driving. The awd's holds the road well... it's what it was engineered to do.
