So today I fell victim to the infamous lower control arm ball joint failure. I've been meaning to change them myself ever since I found out from Mitsu that the recall replacement was done back in 01 and noticed the infamous "creaking" sound. Well, thank god I was only going 10 mph after making a right turn. I hit a small bump and all hell broke loose and you can see in the first pic how far I got after it broke looking at the tire marks. The ball joint completely separated from the control arm and in the process it ripped out the cv axle. Had to wait an hour and a half for the tow truck guy after it took 30 mins to find a guy that knew how to get the car on the flatbed. Let's just say that he was experienced when it came to this and with 2G's especially...
